Volkswagen has introduced its new electric SUV model, the Volkswagen ID Tiguan, intended for the European market. This model is planned for a global market launch in 2027 and serves as the successor to the ID 4 and ID 5 models.
The ID Tiguan will be available with two battery options: 58 kWh and 77 kWh. Customers will be offered configurations with Rear Wheel Drive and All Wheel Drive. Furthermore, Volkswagen intends to sell this vehicle in a Combustion Engine (ICE) version as well.
The car is developed on the MEB Plus platform, and its design adheres to the company's signature principle. The company aimed to give the crossover a more pronounced SUV appearance. Exterior elements include LED headlights, connected LED daytime running lights, and an illuminated logo. The front bumper is equipped with air grilles, and the fog lights are located at the bottom.
The interior features 'pull-type' door handles, and the Tiguan emblem is placed on the tailgate. The trunk volume is 534 liters, and the frunk volume is 32 liters.
The ID Tiguan is available in a completely black color scheme with silver accents. The interior is equipped with three screens while retaining the option of using physical controls. The steering wheel has a two-spoke design, and the multimedia system includes a 15-inch information display, a 10-inch digital driver display, and a 12-inch passenger screen.
In addition, the electric SUV will be equipped with an ADAS package, seats with heating, massage, and ventilation functions. The cabin also features a Harman Kardon audio system, a panoramic roof, wireless phone charging, connected car functionality, ambient lighting, and Vehicle-to-Load capability.
Two battery packages are available: 58 kWh and 77 kWh. The configuration with the smaller battery offers only rear-wheel drive with 190 hp. With the 77 kWh battery, both rear and all-wheel-drive options are available, providing power of 286 hp and 299 hp, respectively. The manufacturer states that the vehicle can cover a distance of up to 600 kilometers. The maximum payload capacity is 2 tons.
