The administrative region of Macao, which is part of China, recorded a record number of arriving tourists during the National Day holiday. This was reported by the Macao Government Tourism Office on Thursday.
According to preliminary data, the average daily arrivals between October 1 and 7 amounted to 163,000 people, which is 15.5% higher than last year's figures. The peak value reached 210,000 people on October 4.
According to industry sources provided to the office, the average hotel occupancy rate during the holidays exceeded nine out of ten, increasing by 3.1 percentage points compared to the previous year.
As specified by the Tourism Office, fireworks and a carnival, which included food, performances, and games, were organized as part of the holiday events.
