Delhi issues traffic warning: movement restrictions on 30 routes due to demonstration

Due to a planned demonstration near Jantar Mantar CP in Delhi, security measures have been heightened. Considering the law and order situation, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for several major roads in Delhi for today, October 10, 2026.

Restrictions and diversions may be in effect on 30 main routes starting Saturday morning at 6:00 AM until 3:00 AM. Affected areas include the Shankar Road ring road (towards New Delhi from the Vandemataram 'T'-junction), the Dhaul Kuang flyover, the Chhandewalan ring road, and the Panchkuian ring road.

The Traffic Police advised passengers traveling from New Delhi and central Delhi to railway stations, intercity bus terminals (ISBT), or the airport to leave with extra time to avoid potential delays. Furthermore, citizens are recommended to refrain from non-essential travel.

Traffic control and diversions will be regulated depending on the current situation, and adjustments to the restrictions may be made if circumstances change.

It is worth noting that on Friday evening, increased traffic pressure was observed on many key roads in Delhi due to protests. A major traffic jam formed on Kalindi Kunj Marg, the main route from Delhi to Noida. Traffic moved very slowly between Sarita Vihar and Kalindi Kunj. Long queues of vehicles also formed at the Delhi-Gurgaon border. Thousands of cars were stuck in traffic jams at the Sarhual border, causing difficulties for Delhi residents and commuters.
