A district job fair was organized in the underdeveloped Mewat region, located in the Nun district of Haryana state. This event took place with the support of the district administration and the initiative of the Department of Entrepreneurship, concluding on Friday at the Shahid Hasan Mewati Medical College premises. Hundreds of graduates from local ITI and polytechnic colleges participated in the fair.
After a full day of interviews, 564 young people were hired by private companies, and 154 candidates secured one-year trainee positions in government departments.
Organizers and officials reported that about 50 small and large companies were invited to the fair, among which representatives and HR managers from 30 firms came to conduct interviews.
In total, 1900 young people registered through the portal and on-site, with approximately 1200–1300 participants attending the fair. Manjoy Verma, an employee of a company operating in IMT in Rodka Mew, stated that his company immediately hired 30 qualified ITI candidates out of the 50 advertised vacancies based on the interview.
Suresh Pinto, the chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the district, addressed the event, emphasizing that the Haryana government's priority is ensuring employment for youth from talented and energetic regions like Mewat at the local level. He noted that the government had taken a special initiative for the first time to host such a large job fair specifically in the Mewat region.
Previously, the youth of this region had to travel to other districts or states in search of interviews and jobs. Pinto added that new industries are opening up around Rodka Mew IMT and Ujain, which will lead to a permanent solution to unemployment.
He also mentioned that Minister Gaurav Gautam was supposed to attend the fair as the chief guest but could not due to commitments; however, he sent an inspiring message to the youth.
A significant number of local young women also participated in the job fair. Various funds and corporate companies offered these young women jobs according to their skills. The selected women expressed joy, noting that securing local employment would help their families and serve as an example to society, showing that the entire region will only develop when the women of Mewat study and move forward.
Organizers urged those who were not selected not to be discouraged and recommended improving their skills for participation in future fairs.
