Due to planned CJP protest actions, trains were canceled, putting one family in a difficult situation. The father, who was traveling to Delhi with four-year-old Neraj, suffering from a serious eye condition, found himself in uncertainty due to the cancellations.
The family, which arrived at the Benaras station from Sonbhadra, is now forced to choose between a long wait at the station or returning home with a sick child.
Chhotelal, a resident of Amila Dham in Sonbhadra, stated that his four-year-old son suffers from a serious eye disease. The child's treatment in Delhi has been ongoing for a year, requiring the family to travel there monthly. A previous attempt at treatment at AIIMS was rejected, after which the family began receiving treatment at Swarup Rani Hospital in Delhi.
This time, Chhotelal traveled with his wife and son in hopes of reaching the hospital on time for treatment. Since Chhotelal earns a living through hard labor, the travel expenses from Sonbhadra to Benaras amount to about 500–700 rupees. The news of the train cancellation significantly worsened their difficulties.
As a result, they are forced to wait at the station for 12 to 24 hours. If the situation normalizes, they will attempt to go to Delhi; otherwise, the family will have to return to Sonbhadra.
Neraj's mother shared her plight, noting that she will have to cope with the difficulties. They brought the child from such a distant place for treatment, but the train cancellation has led to the necessity of returning. The family faces a double problem: the child's serious illness and high costs for travel and treatment, making the wait extremely difficult.
Chhotelal appealed to the railway not to cancel trains and to ensure their operation. For him, the train cancellation is not just a delay in travel but a potential impact on the child's treatment, as monthly visits to Delhi require timely arrival at the hospital.
The train cancellations occurred against the backdrop of an announced large CJP rally in Delhi on October 10th against Chief Electoral Officer Gyanesh Kumar. Due to the influx of people from various parts of the country to participate in the action, several trains were announced as canceled. Among them were the express trains 12559 Shivganga and 12581 Superfast, running from Benaras to New Delhi, which created problems for passengers heading to the capital for business or medical treatment.
Nevertheless, Amit Kumar, Deputy SS of Benaras Railway Station, reported that according to railway information, the cancellation was related to technical malfunctions. He also specified that passengers are instructed to receive a 100% refund of their tickets. However, the refund does not completely alleviate the anxiety of passengers who needed to reach Delhi urgently for treatment or other important matters.
Neraj's family is among those passengers for whom the train cancellation directly affected vital needs. Chhotelal's main concern now is getting his son to the hospital on time. Every hour spent at the station brings them new problems. The family is currently awaiting clarification regarding the movement of the trains.
