Over 200 thousand electric scooters sold in 30 days: the best-selling brands presented

The electric vehicle market in India continues to expand, showing sales growth across all segments, from two-wheelers to passenger cars. Specifically, leading electric two-wheeler brands in the Indian market sold over 200,000 units, reaching a total sales volume of 207,314 units.

Compared to last year, sales in this segment grew by 88.67%, and compared to the previous month, by 13.16%. In August, companies sold 183,204 units. The market share of electric two-wheelers increased to 11.6%, up from 10.7% in August, while in September 2025, the market share was 8.2%.

The continuous sales growth indicates that consumers have a positive attitude towards electric two-wheelers, especially due to their low operating costs.

Currently, TVS Motor is the leader in electric two-wheeler sales. The company sold 54,037 electric two-wheelers in September, representing a sales increase of 125.87% compared to the same period last year. Bajaj Auto is in second place, which sold 48,429 Chetak scooters, showing a sales growth of 138.87%.

Ather Energy sold 30,533 electric scooters in September. Last September, the company sold 19,620 electric scooters, which means a brand sales growth of 55.62% year-on-year. Hero Vida sold 24,321 scooters in September, achieving an increase of 83.24%.

Ola Electric ranks fifth, selling 13,451 electric two-wheelers in September, although the brand's sales decreased compared to last year. Greaves Ampere sold 9,316 electric scooters, which is 114.06% more than in September of last year.

River Mobility sold 5,556 electric scooters in September with a growth of 193.19%. Bigas sold 5,023 electric scooters with a growth of 99.01%. Additionally, Bounce sold 3,069 units, and E-Sprinto sold 1,997 units, while other brands sold 11,582 units.

September proved to be a very successful month for TVS Motor Company. During this month, the company sold 672,790 units of vehicles, demonstrating a growth of 24.35 percent compared to the same period last year. Looking at monthly figures, sales in August increased by 9.12 percent.

The company's significant growth was achieved thanks to strong results in the electric scooter segment and exports. In addition to two-wheeler sales, there is an improvement in the three-wheeler segment.

From July to September, TVS Motor sold over 18.40 million two-wheelers. In the domestic market, two-wheeler sales showed an increase of 24.05 percent, while exports grew by 34.37 percent. Including the three-wheeler business, the company's international business reached over 5.39 million units with a growth of 34.82 percent.

The share of exports in total quarterly sales is 28.11 percent. TVS's two-wheeler sales reached 645,955 units in September, showing a growth of 23.29 percent. The domestic market consumed 482,073 units.

Exports account for a quarter of the company's total two-wheeler sales volume. Regarding electric scooters, 65,799 electric scooters were sold in September thanks to the iQube and Orbiter models. The company's annual growth in this segment was 110.45 percent, and compared to August, it was 10.67 percent.

The share of electric scooters in the company's total sales is 10.19 percent. For the quarter from July to September, electric scooter sales grew by 132.71 percent, reaching 186,186 units. In September, the company also sold 26,835 three-wheelers, showing an annual growth of 56.55 percent in this segment.

Four companies dominate the electric scooter market, 1.5 million units sold

The demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market continues to grow. An analysis of data from the first nine months of the current year, 2026, shows significant growth in the sales of two-wheeled electric bicycles. According to transport data, between January and September 2026, 1.561 million electric two-wheeled vehicles were sold in the Indian segment.

Companies such as TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, and Hero MotoCorp hold the largest market share. These four manufacturers control 76 percent of sales over the last nine months. These figures demonstrate that the market is effectively controlled by these four major producers.

For comparison, this figure was 9.61 million units during the first nine months of the previous year, 2025. Thus, over the nine months of the current year, sales of two-wheeled electric bicycles increased by 6 million units compared to 2025. The annual growth rate was 62 percent. Throughout all of 2025, these companies collectively sold 13.42 million electric two-wheeled vehicles.

Last month, 1.97 million registrations were recorded in the two-wheeled electric bicycle segment, representing a 7.7 percent increase compared to August. TVS and Bajaj contributed the most to sales.

Among the best-selling models are the iQube from TVS, which is highly popular, and the Bajaj Chetak, which became the best-selling electric scooter last month. The Rezo model from Ather Energy has also gained consumer recognition, and the Vida from Hero MotoCorp is among the most sought-after scooters.

Although data for September has not yet been published, two-wheeled segment sales in 2026 for nine months have already exceeded those of 2025. Any sales in the next three months will be included in the overall growth of this segment. Over the nine months of the current year, the companies sold 2.19 million more units than last year.

While major manufacturers have benefited the most in terms of market share, there is also impressive growth among smaller companies. For example, River Mobility's share increased from 1.27 percent in 2025 to 2.46 percent in 2026.
