TCS Results for the Second Quarter

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services company, presented its Q2FY27 results on Thursday. During this period, net profit amounted to ₹13,884 crore, which is 14.9% higher compared to the same period last year (Q2FY26), when it was ₹12,075 crore. Revenue increased by 11.2% in the reported figures, reaching ₹73,188 crore compared to ₹65,799 crore a year earlier.

When looking at quarterly (Q-o-Q) figures, TCS's net profit grew by 4%, and revenue grew by 1.3%. When calculated in constant currency, revenue growth was 0.5%. Despite global uncertainty and disruptions caused by artificial intelligence (AI), the company's results in the second quarter exceeded Bloomberg analysts' forecasts, although the growth remained moderate.

Market Overview

Indian stock indices are likely to open higher today as GIFT Nifty futures signal a positive start amid weakening oil prices during the Asian trading session. Futures were valued at 22,374 points, which is 80 points higher.

Nevertheless, markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded lower, reflecting overnight losses on Wall Street after shares related to AI fell due to concerns over OpenAI's earnings forecast. Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's KOSPI dropped by 0.6% and 2.62%, respectively.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services provider, announced a net profit of INR 13,884 crore for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27. This figure represents a growth of 14.9% compared to INR 12,075 crore recorded in Q1 FY26.

The company's revenue for the second quarter reached INR 73,188 crore in reported figures, which is 11.2% higher than INR 65,799 crore from the previous year. Meanwhile, the quarterly net profit growth was 4%, and sequential revenue growth reached 1.3%.

TCS's results surpassed Bloomberg forecasts, which had anticipated revenue of INR 73,108 crore and net profit of INR 13,786 crore. Despite expectations of a soft quarter due to global uncertainty and shifts driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI), the company delivered stronger results and also noted growth in AI-related revenues.

Annual AI revenue stood at $3.1 billion, exceeding 10% of total revenue. In Q1 FY27, TCS's annual AI revenue was $2.6 billion, marking a 13.6% quarter-over-quarter increase. The Total Contract Value (TCV) in the order book for the second quarter was $9 billion, compared to $9.5 billion in the first quarter. TCS secured deals totaling $10 billion in Q2 FY26.

Management Statements

Kritivasan, CEO and Managing Director, stated: 'We are delighted with the broad growth across all our international markets and most industry segments. In this quarter, we announced two unique deals with Porsche and Best Buy, representing a new category of transformation partnerships. Together with our clients, we are creating reproducible value platforms that industrialize AI at scale.'

The second quarter saw growth in the company's core markets. A positive development was the 1.2% increase in international market revenue. Growth was observed across all segments within verticals; BFSI, the largest revenue source, grew by 3.9% year-on-year and 2.5% sequentially. Consumer business was the only segment to record a decline.

In the US, the company's largest geographical market, there was a 1.5% year-on-year growth, remaining nearly stable quarter-on-quarter with a 0.4% increase. Continental Europe increased by 3.3% year-on-year, and the UK grew by 4.5% year-on-year.

Arti Subramanian, Executive Director, President, and COO, emphasized: 'The momentum of AI remained strong, and annual AI revenue now exceeds $3 billion. Demand for achieving business outcomes using AI-based solutions, transforming corporate systems under AI leadership, and autonomous GBS continues to accelerate. Cybersecurity remains a top priority as clients heighten focus on resilience and recovery. TCS's Human+AI autonomous services model for AMS received high praise from clients, underscoring the strength of our differentiated capabilities.'

TCS reported an operating margin of 24% for Q2 FY27. As of June 30, 2026, the total workforce stood at 598,056 employees, an increase of 4,258 employees. Quarterly attrition was 13.3%.

Sudip Kunnumal, Head of HR, noted: 'We continue to build a future-ready workforce through upskilling our employees and hiring top talent. Investments in training and critical skills ensured a consistent rise in training hours to 17.1 million. In this quarter, the employee base reached over 598,000, while attrition remained stable at 13.3%.'
