Uzbekistan and Turkish Airlines Discuss Increasing Air Traffic and Promoting Tourism

The Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of Turkish Airlines to discuss increasing the number of flights and jointly promoting the country's tourism potential in international markets.

During the meeting, Hussein Gyuzel, head of the Turkish Airlines representation in Uzbekistan, participated. The parties discussed developing bilateral cooperation, expanding air transport, and utilizing the Turkish airline's route network to boost inbound tourism.

Currently, Turkish Airlines operates 42 flights per week to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Urgench. It was noted that the airline's international route network via Istanbul can help attract tourists from Europe and America.

In particular, the parties agreed to study passenger flows from specific markets, coordinate special tourist tariffs from priority cities, and jointly offer packaged tours arriving in Uzbekistan in one city and departing from another.

Special attention was paid to European markets. The parties agreed to examine destinations from Amsterdam, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Prague, and Budapest in more detail.

A roadshow is also planned in cooperation with Uzbek tour operators to popularize Uzbekistan's tourism opportunities. Additional opportunities for attracting foreign guests are linked to Turkish Airlines' transit services through Istanbul. Passengers with long layovers can take advantage of the Touristanbul and Stopover programs in Istanbul, which provide a free city tour or hotel accommodation subject to established conditions.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and Turkish Airlines by the end of October. Furthermore, a business breakfast with local tour operators and airline representatives is scheduled in Tashkent.

The parties also agreed to organize a 'Bukhara Days' event in Turkey and conduct joint marketing campaigns to promote Uzbekistan's tourism potential in global markets.

Uzbekistan and India plan to expand cooperation in tourism and culture

A meeting was held in Tashkent between Abdulkhaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, and Ritu Beri, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan for Tourism and Culture in India. The parties discussed prospects for further development of interaction in the fields of tourism, culture, and creative industries, as well as work on promoting Uzbekistan's tourism potential.

During the negotiations, possibilities were discussed to increase tourist exchanges and cooperation in the fields of art, crafts, fashion, and the creative economy, including promoting Uzbekistan in the Indian tourism market. It was noted that relations between the two states have acquired strategic importance in recent years.

Previously, in August 2026, during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Uzbekistan and his meetings with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the sides reached agreements on further strengthening bilateral ties at the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

One of the concrete results of this visit was the signing of the Cooperation Program in the field of tourism for the period 2026–2028. This document establishes the basis for expanding tourist flows, implementing joint projects, holding cultural events, and creating new tourist destinations.

Additional opportunities for increasing tourist traffic have emerged due to changes in entry requirements. From September 1, Indian citizens holding a valid multiple-entry tourist or business visa issued by Australia, the USA, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Schengen countries, New Zealand, or Japan, and possessing an airline ticket for departure to their country or a third country, can enter Uzbekistan without a visa for up to 30 days within the validity period of the specified foreign visa.

The development of tourism ties also contributes to an increase in direct flights. Starting September 28, the airline Centrum Air began operating regular flights on the Tashkent–Hyderabad–Tashkent route. To mark the launch of this route, an introductory tour of Uzbekistan was organized for representatives of the Hyderabad tourism industry from October 2 to 5. On October 5, a Business Forum on Tourism and B2B Trade between Uzbekistan and India took place in Tashkent.

Perspectives for cooperation in Indian fashion, design, and creative industries were also discussed. Taking into account Rita Beri's experience, the parties proposed implementing joint projects and organizing an introductory creative trip to Uzbekistan for representatives of the Indian fashion and design industry and relevant media.

Furthermore, the parties discussed media and creative initiatives aimed at forming a modern image of Uzbekistan as a tourist destination in India. It is proposed to involve Indian designers, specialized media, cultural platforms, and opinion leaders to promote the country.

Following the meeting, agreements were reached on a visit to Uzbekistan by leading representatives of the Indian wedding industry and renowned experts. It was also agreed to study the possibility of filming an Indian movie in Uzbekistan and to develop a separate roadmap for the systematic implementation of joint initiatives.

The participants expressed readiness to continue practical work on developing tourism, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties, creating new tourism products, and promoting Uzbekistan in the Indian market.
