Uzbekistan Presents Privatization Results for the First Nine Months of 2026

The State Assets Management Agency of Uzbekistan (SAMA) held a press conference to present the results of its work for the first nine months of 2026. These results pertain to the next stage of privatization and changes in real estate agent regulation.

SAMA Director, Sohibjon Murodov, presented the main report, noting that measures aimed at reducing state participation in the economy, expanding opportunities for the private sector, and attracting investment are being consistently implemented in the country.

As part of the privatization results, the agency highlighted deals involving major state assets. The state stake in Coca-Cola Uzbekistan was sold for 252 million US dollars, and the stake in Ferganaazot was sold for 140 million US dollars. Additionally, a 75.2% state share in the Samarkand Automobile Industry Plant was sold for 80 million US dollars.

Special attention was paid to the implementation of Presidential Decree No. PF-177, which aims to further reduce state involvement in the economy and accelerate the privatization process. According to this decree, it is planned to auction off state shares in the charter capital of 84 companies, 1242 real estate objects, and 8000 hectares of land in 2026.

The decree also provides for the liquidation or reorganization of 85 state enterprises, as well as the sale of state assets, assets of these enterprises, and land plots totaling approximately 100 trillion sums. Privatization is expected to generate revenue of no less than 14 trillion sums.

As part of the new phase, additional mechanisms are being introduced to speed up the release of state assets to the market, expand opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors, and improve the efficiency of state property use.

Since the beginning of 2026, entrepreneurs have purchased 2800 hectares of land through 11796 lots for a total amount of 4.7 trillion sums. Furthermore, over 36,500 land plots belonging to individuals and legal entities have been privatized, covering a total area of 3509 hectares.

The Director also provided information on the electronic trading platform and the new opportunities it opens for individuals and entrepreneurs to acquire state assets and land plots.

Another important topic of the press conference was the Law on Real Estate Agent Activities, adopted on August 7, 2026. This law aims to develop the real estate services market and increase its transparency and professionalism. SAMA has been designated as the authorized state body in this field.

The law establishes the requirement for creating a unified public registry of real estate agents and real estate organizations, requirements for professional training and certification of specialists, and the introduction of national standards for real estate services. One of the key innovations will be the multiple listing system, which will consolidate information about real estate objects into a single electronic system, facilitating data exchange between agents. This system is expected to increase competition and transparency, improving access to information in the real estate market.

At the conclusion of the press conference, representatives of the agency answered questions from journalists and bloggers regarding privatization, land sales, e-commerce, and the new real estate market regulation.
