According to the report, based on NITI Aayog's assessment for 2025, low data quality leads to leakage of funds amounting to 4% to 7% of India's annual social expenditure.
Despite India processing over 20 billion transactions monthly through UPI and registering more than 1.4 billion people in the Aadhaar system, fragmented government databases continue to cause financial losses. Furthermore, they hinder beneficiaries from accessing subsidized services under social welfare programs and jeopardize the country's ambitions in artificial intelligence.
