Chinese three-wheeled electric vehicle, the Telufu GT5, costs about R$ 22 thousand in China and is being discussed in Brazil

A Chinese three-wheeled electric vehicle has gained attention on social media due to its appearance resembling a miniature sports car and its approximate cost of R$ 22 thousand in China.

This model, called Telufu GT5, produced by the manufacturer Shandong Telufu, adopts an inverted tricycle configuration, featuring two wheels at the front and one at the rear. Its enclosed structure offers protection against the elements and accommodates two people.

Internally, depending on the chosen version, the vehicle may feature unusual amenities for its category, such as air conditioning, power windows, a multimedia system, a 7-inch digital panel, and a rearview camera.

The GT5 is equipped with an electric motor capable of generating up to 10 horsepower and reaches a top speed of 70 km/h in sport mode, surpassing most enclosed tricycle models.

With a total length of 3.49 meters, it uses independent suspension in the front and a wide rear tire measuring 255/55 R18. The vehicle's range varies between 120 km and 240 km, depending on the battery, according to the Chinese measurement cycle. Recharging occurs using a standard 220V outlet and requires six to eight hours.

In China, the model's price ranges from 28,800 to 33,900 yuan, which corresponds to approximately R$ 22 thousand to R$ 26 thousand in direct conversion. Although Brazilian websites mention discussions about potentially bringing the GT5 to the country, they do not specify who would be negotiating this operation.

To date, the manufacturer has not released information regarding an importer, price, or launch date in Brazil. However, if the vehicle reaches the national market, its final value is expected to increase considerably due to freight, homologation, and import taxes.

It is worth noting that enclosed electric tricycles are already sold in Brazil, but they are generally focused on cargo transport and have significantly higher prices. The company Elemovi, for example, offers models starting from R$ 40,990.

Regarding four-wheeled microcars, the scenario became clearer in July when Contran established regulations for enclosed quadricycles. These larger vehicles can reach up to 20 hp and speeds of 90 km/h, but require a National Driver's License (CNH) B and a front airbag.
