FAO Director-General visited Uzbekistan to review agricultural science and research

The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Dongyu Ku, visited Tashkent State Agrarian University during his trip to Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported that he analyzed the university's potential in education and scientific research together with the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov.

During the visit, Ku Dongyu and Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov inspected the university's modern facilities and studied the conditions provided for students. In particular, they visited a laboratory designed for the storage and processing of fruits and vegetables.

The FAO Director-General also met with university students. During this meeting, he listened to their opinions and suggestions regarding the development of agriculture, food security, and the agrarian sector.

As part of the visit, officials jointly planted a sapling in the university courtyard. Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov and Ku Dongyu participated in this initiative, which was presented as a symbol of the development of science, education, innovation, and sustainable agriculture.

Furthermore, Ku Dongyu and the accompanying delegation visited the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics. The guests familiarized themselves with the scientific research and new developments being conducted at this center.

The visit of the head of FAO to Tashkent State Agrarian University and the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics focused on Uzbekistan's potential in agricultural education and science, as well as on further strengthening the country's cooperation with the FAO.
