Mahindra's vehicle portfolio consists exclusively of SUVs, regardless of their size, whether they are electric or equipped with internal combustion engines (ICE). This strategy is receiving a positive response from consumers, as evidenced by sales data.
In the first nine months of the calendar year 2026, Mahindra sold over 500 thousand SUVs. Specifically, from January to September 2026, the company sold 541,942 SUVs, including 50,835 electric vehicles. The company's annual growth was 21%.
In the same period last year (January-September), the company sold 446,697 vehicles. In 2025, total sales reached 625,603 units. This year, the company lags behind last year's record sales by only 83,662 units. This was the first time Mahindra exceeded the six hundred thousand sales mark.
The start of the fourth quarter opens the possibility of setting a new sales record; there is a chance the company could surpass the threshold of 7.25 lakh units. This would be the first time the company exceeds seven hundred thousand sold units.
In September, the company sold 64,092 units, demonstrating a 14% increase compared to last year. This was the highest sales figure for the entire year 2026 so far. Furthermore, September is the second month with the highest sales after October 2025 (71,624 units).
The first quarter of 2026 proved to be the most successful, as 183,800 units were sold in the first three months (January-March). In the second quarter, 174,745 units were sold, and in the third quarter, 183,397 units were sold. The fourth quarter traditionally features holidays such as Durga Puja, Dasara, and Diwali.
Many also anticipate the end of the year due to hopes for special discounts. Considering all these factors, it is evident that 2026 has been the best year for the company to date, and the highest level of sales will be achieved this year. It should be noted that Mahindra's car prices have been constantly rising in 2026, and the company has repeatedly increased the cost of its models.
