Airlink to start daily flights between Cape Town and Lanseria Airport in December

Airlink is launching its first regular domestic route to Lanseria Airport, connecting Cape Town with this airport starting in December.

Passengers traveling between Cape Town and Johannesburg will soon have an additional option thanks to Airlink's launch of two-day flights between Cape Town and Lanseria International Airport from December 4, 2026.

This new service will provide passengers with a direct route for trips to and from Johannesburg, allowing them to avoid the congestion at O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Lanseria International Airport is located to serve businesses and communities in West Gauteng and the North West province.

New option for travelers from Cape Town and Johannesburg

Airlink CEO De Villiers Engelbrecht stated that the airline is introducing this service to offer passengers an alternative way to travel between the two regions.

Engelbrecht noted: 'Travel options on this route were limited, and our intention is to provide passengers with a comfortable and pleasant alternative for travel between these regions, while complementing our existing services to O.R. Tambo.'

The new route will also mark Airlink's first regular domestic service to Lanseria. Airlink will add two-day flights to Lanseria from December 4, with plans for four daily return flights starting in March 2027.

Four daily flights from March 2027

The route will be operated on an Embraer E190 aircraft, which accommodates 98 passengers. According to Airlink, on all flights, passengers will be able to choose either a window or aisle seat, as there will be no middle seats.

The airline plans to increase the frequency of service to four daily return flights starting on March 22, 2027. The updated schedule for the increased frequency will be published closer to that date.
