Harry Kane stated that he does not rule out the possibility of surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo in the world list of international goalscorers after scoring twice against the Czech Republic, thereby equaling his record for matches for the England national team.
The captain equaled Peter Shilton's record at Wembley on Tuesday by scoring his 90th and 91st international goals in a 3-0 victory. Furthermore, Kane does not plan to retire soon.
Ronaldo, who is currently 41 years old, holds the first place in the world overall tables with 146 goals for Portugal. Kane, who is the record holder for goals for England, noted: 'We will see how far we can go. It is a very long road right now, but who knows? I am in great shape.'
He added that he had previously mentioned that some players he played with reach the end of their thirties and even forties while remaining at a high level. He emphasized that for him, it depends on the season and the feeling of being able to help the team.
The forward called the achievement, which equals the former goalkeeper Shilton's figure, 'beyond my wildest dreams' 11 years after his debut. England coach Thomas Tuchel highly praised this achievement, noting: 'Amazing, he deserves the stage, he deserves praise.'
Kane, who is 33 years old and scored his first goal 79 seconds after his debut in 2015, has always demanded the highest level from himself. He explained that he possessed strong self-esteem and was ready to put in more effort than others, combining talent with hard work and dedication.
The former Tottenham player, who is a contender for the Ballon d'Or in London at the end of this month, reported that despite vast experience, he still has potential for growth. He stated that he is finishing the season with the best season of his career and started the current season as well as the previous one, emphasizing that his goal now is to continue developing and see how far he can advance.
After moving to Bayern Munich, Kane reached new heights by breaking the 49-year record, becoming the fastest player to score 100 Bundesliga goals, doing so in his 98th league match. He concluded: 'I am not going to stop. I will keep moving forward and see where it takes me. Perhaps in 10 years we will see what the ceiling is.'
