Ricardo Palma University will host the 1st URP Design + AI Hackathon 2026 on Friday, October 9, 2026. This intensive event invites students and alumni to form multidisciplinary teams with the goal of creating proposals for multifunctional and transformable furniture that solve a practical need.
The event organization is managed by the Research Unit of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism and the Central Office for Alumni Monitoring and Employability (OCSEE) of Ricardo Palma University itself. Additionally, the College of Architects of Peru - Lima Region will support the event.
Challenges and Technological Application
The proposed challenge aims to integrate various fields of knowledge, including architecture, engineering, design, and technology. Each group must first identify a specific problem and define a user for it, exploring various approaches before developing a three-dimensional model. Finally, the teams must present a solution that is communicable and has the potential to be manufactured.
In this context, artificial intelligence will be used as a support tool for all phases of the project: from initial research and idea generation to visualization and communication of proposals. Participants are required to defend their choices and detail the entire methodological process adopted.
Technical Direction and Event Details
The technical direction of the hackathon will be led by architect Jennifer Durand, an alumna of URP who works at Zaha Hadid Architects. She will participate in person to share her experience in emerging technologies applied to the field of architecture.
The session will run from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will include an introductory workshop on artificial intelligence, the development of the challenge, the evaluation phase, the presentation of results, and the awards ceremony. The event is specifically aimed at students and alumni of URP.
