The opening of one hundred public sanitary facilities, or toilets, is planned for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, by 2026. The project will be implemented in the format of a public-private partnership.
The relevant decision was signed by the Mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, on October 5, 2026 (No. 501-14-0-Q/26).
These structures will be built according to modern designs through a simplified procedure. They will be located near central and tourist streets, in public squares, as well as near places visited by residents and guests of the capital.
The initiative is supported by Presidential Decree No. PP-279 dated July 27, 2026, which concerns 'additional measures for the socio-economic development of Tashkent in 2026–2027'.
The decision provides for the allocation of 140.4 million soms for topographic surveys necessary to determine the locations of these facilities. These funds will be provided from the Tashkent City Development Fund under the city administration and directed to LLC 'Scientific Research Institute of Engineering Surveys in Construction, Geoinformation, and Urban Planning'.
Deputy Mayors D. Khudaybergenov and A. Shokatov, along with the company 'Toshkent Invest kompaniyasi JSC' led by B. Shakirov, were instructed to present the relevant proposal to the supervisory board of 'Toshkent Invest kompaniyasi JSC'. This company is responsible for the targeted use of the allocated funds.
