An environmental cleanup initiative that started with a small group of people has turned into a public movement. Since September 1, 2018, Vinay Das and his team have been working every Sunday regularly.
Currently, about 350 active volunteers participate in the movement, and over 1600 children and youth have joined this work. Together, they have cleaned parks, alleys, the banks of the Yamuna River, and several ghats along a three-kilometer stretch of the Munak canal.
In just the last two trips along the Munak canal, 50 metric tons of waste were removed, which was also recorded in MCD logs. Additionally, project participants are involved in planting trees and caring for saplings for three months.
Vinay Das expresses that sometimes the greatest reward is not in the numbers, but in the words of a child who says: 'Bhaiya, my alley is clean today. Mom is happy.' Now Vinay has an even bigger goal—to build a school for 1500 children and teach them to become environmental protectors.
