According to preliminary data published by the National Statistical Committee on September 30, 2026, Uzbekistan exported fruits and vegetables worth $1.18 billion from January to August 2026. This figure reflects a decrease of 6.6% compared to the same period in 2025.
In physical terms, the export decreased by 1.4%, amounting to 20,800 tons, bringing the total volume to 1.4377 million tons. The previous year, Uzbekistan exported 1.4585 million tons of fruits and vegetables for a total of $1.27 billion. Fruits and vegetables accounted for 5.2% of the country's total exports.
There was an increase in vegetable exports while fruit exports simultaneously declined. Uzbekistan sent 551,300 tons of vegetables worth $203.4 million, compared to 488,300 tons worth $168.6 million the previous year.
Onions accounted for the largest share among exported vegetables, totaling 313,400 tons worth $91.3 million, compared to 285,600 tons worth $80.4 million last year. Cabbage also amounted to 139,000 tons worth $54.6 million, carrots to 59,700 tons valued at $13.4 million, tomatoes to 33,200 tons for $34.7 million, and garlic to 5,900 tons worth $9.4 million.
Fruit exports fell to 332,800 tons, corresponding to a value of $384 million, compared to 376,700 tons worth $416.9 million the previous year. Peaches were the leading fruit by volume, with supplies increasing from 109,900 tons worth $103.3 million to 115,800 tons worth $114.7 million. Grape exports rose to 90,100 tons, although their value decreased from $78.3 million to $74.8 million.
Apricot exports dropped from 61,300 tons worth $46.9 million to 26,400 tons worth $32.5 million. Cherry supplies decreased from 34,300 tons worth $72.5 million to 25,200 tons worth $59.9 million. The volume of dried grapes reached 56,100 tons worth $66.6 million, compared to 60,400 tons worth $81.1 million the previous year. Exports of dried prunes decreased to 19,100 tons, while their value slightly increased from $34.8 million to $35.5 million.
The export of melons and watermelons decreased in physical terms to 198,500 tons, but their value increased from $52.5 million to $62 million. Uzbekistan also exported 36,200 tons of mung beans worth $34.3 million, and exports of peanuts and nuts totaled 14,700 tons worth $33.8 million. Other fruits and vegetables accounted for 304,200 tons worth $465 million, which is less than 329,800 tons worth $560.9 million last year.
According to the SITC classification, exports in the 'Vegetables and fruits' division reached $1.22 billion, representing 93.0% of the previous year's level. Imports in this category increased by 29.7%, reaching $381.6 million. The committee also reported that Uzbekistan's total exports in January-August 2026 amounted to $22.9 billion, which is 3.4% lower than the same period last year.
