Uzbekistan and Denmark Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Investment and Trade

Uzbekistan and Denmark held discussions aimed at increasing trade, economic, and investment interaction between the two countries. Special attention was paid to areas such as water resource management, equipment localization, energy, agriculture, and digital solutions.

These negotiations took place within the framework of a business round table, which included representatives from state institutions and businessmen from both countries. It is worth noting that in 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Denmark increased by 26.6%.

The Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Akrom Aliyev, emphasized that the current level of economic and trade cooperation remains limited. Nevertheless, he noted that the first official visit of the Danish Foreign Minister to Uzbekistan opens up new opportunities for developing bilateral ties.

The Danish delegation visiting Uzbekistan included representatives of leading companies. About 15 Uzbek private enterprises participated in the business round table.

One of the central issues of the discussion was water resource management. The parties discussed the implementation of water-saving technologies, the use of energy-efficient pumps, as well as the prospects for subsequent production localization in Uzbekistan.

Jens Holst-Nielsen, a representative of the Confederation of Danish Industry, reported on the interest of Danish businesses in finding local partners. He also mentioned that companies are considering cooperation opportunities in the agriculture, energy, and healthcare sectors.

Significant attention at the meeting was paid to food production and the development of the agro-industrial complex, including issues of localization and expanding export potential. Furthermore, the parties discussed mechanisms for long-term and preferential financing of projects in the industry, energy, water supply, agriculture, healthcare, and logistics sectors.

A practical result of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Danish company AVK International and an Uzbek water supply partner. The parties plan to launch a joint pilot project.

Alena Moisenko, Deputy Director for Development at AVK International, stated that the company produces equipment for water and gas supply systems, as well as for agriculture and industry. She expressed hope for further expansion of cooperation and the application of the company's products in various regions of Uzbekistan.

Participants of the round table also noted the existence of a legal framework and favorable conditions for foreign investors to conduct business in Uzbekistan.
