More than 120 local enterprises participated in the 'Road Show' event dedicated to their involvement opportunities in the construction of the new international airport in Tashkent.
This event took place on October 3 as part of the new international airport construction project and was jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement, and Larsen & Toubro.
Participants were provided with detailed information about the project itself, including its technical specifications, expected volume of construction work, as well as details on goods and services planned for procurement and requirements for contractors.
The main goal of the event was to expand the participation of local producers, suppliers, and subcontractors in the implementation of this large infrastructure project and to develop their interaction with international contractors.
During the 'Road Show,' production capacities and technical capabilities of local companies were discussed, their proposals were reviewed, and potential areas for cooperation were determined. The organizers also intend to study the experience and production capabilities of local enterprises to identify those who could participate in the supply of goods, provision of services, and execution of contractual works within the framework of the project.
The new international airport project in Tashkent is being implemented on a territory covering 1310 hectares in the Tashkent region. Investments in the construction of the first phase amount to 2.7 billion US dollars.
In its initial stage, the airport is designed to serve up to 20 million passengers annually, with plans later to increase its capacity to 46 million passengers. In addition to the passenger terminal complex, the project includes a cargo terminal, an air traffic control tower, facilities for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), and catering facilities, as well as modern navigation and meteorological systems.
The involvement of local producers and suppliers in this project is viewed as an opportunity to increase the share of local content, establish new cooperative relationships, introduce modern technologies, and stimulate the development of production capacities. Simultaneously, participation in such an international infrastructure project can provide local companies with a chance to work with major international contractors and expand their professional experience.
