The Parliament of Belarus intends to consider the ratification of an intergovernmental agreement with Uzbekistan concerning the temporary employment of Uzbek citizens.
The relevant draft law has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus. This document regulates the main aspects of employment for Uzbek citizens in Belarus.
Specifically, the agreement covers provisions on labor relations, social guarantees, remuneration, and worker protection, as well as issues of taxation and medical insurance. These matters will be regulated in accordance with Belarusian legislation.
Furthermore, the agreement separately establishes procedures that must be followed in the event of the death of a migrant worker. According to this document, Uzbek workers may, by agreement with the employer, be exempted from work on official state holidays of Uzbekistan.
In case of termination or expiration of the employment contract or special work permit, the migrant is obliged to cease employment and leave Belarus. If the employment contract was not concluded due to reasons dependent on the employer and not on the citizen of Uzbekistan, the issue of compensation for incurred expenses will be considered.
In parallel, the Parliament of Belarus will consider a protocol that introduces amendments to the existing intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Uzbekistan on the mutual movement of citizens. According to the proposed changes, migrants must register in Belarus within ten days of entering the country.
