The Iranian documentary 'Long Winter' won the Best Film award at the tenth International Documentary Film Festival of CIS countries 'Eurasia.Doc', which concluded on October 2 in Minsk, Belarus.
As reported by the Mehr publication on Sunday, the film was among the laureates announced at the festival's closing ceremony, receiving the Prize of the 10th CIS Documentary Film Festival 'Eurasia.Doc' in the 'Best Film' category.
'Long Winter' is a 44-minute documentary that tells the story of an elderly couple living in a village in northern Iran. The film follows how the couple faces the difficulties of rural life and the wife's illness, forcing them to make a difficult decision: stay in their native village or move to the city.
Hassan Jafari directed the film, Farzaneh Fati wrote the screenplay, Farahbash Farahdnia was the cinematographer, Yasser Talebi was the editor, and Yasser Fariadras was the producer. The production was carried out by the Nezhath Center for Media Arts and the Center for Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film.
Hassan Jafari has previously worked on several documentary works, including the films 'Forty Years of Love', 'Kidjakarchal', 'Paradise', and 'Last Breaths'.
The tenth edition of 'Eurasia.Doc' took place from September 28 to October 2 in Smolensk, Russia, and Minsk, Belarus. According to the official festival website, 361 films from 14 countries were submitted to the main competition, with 34 works advancing to the final competition.
The festival gathered filmmakers, journalists, experts, and viewers from various countries, presenting films that address historical events, contemporary social issues, human experience, and development in different societies.
The Grand Prix of the festival went to the Russian documentary film '39th Medical Detachment: Battle for Life', directed by Anastasia Mikhailovskaya and Artem Somov. Other films that received an award at the Eurasia.Doc festival included the Russian films 'Gulag 142 – Death Camp' and the Belarusian film 'Untold War: Fate of Women'.
