Cooking method
First, the lentils should be soaked for several hours. Then the water is drained, and the lentils are placed in a blender jar. Ginger and a little water are added to obtain a smooth puree. The resulting puree is transferred to a bowl, where salt and red pepper are added, and it is thoroughly mixed.
Finally, Eno is added, and the mixture is gently stirred. Then small molds are greased with oil, the dough is placed in them, and they are steamed. After about 12 minutes, soft and fluffy lentil burgers are ready.
For the filling, a little butter and oil are heated in a pan. Finely chopped garlic, onion, and bell pepper are fried until lightly golden brown. Then tomatoes are added and simmered for some time.
Next, salt, red pepper, and other basic spices are added to this mixture. It is important not to forget to add pav bhaji masala, as this is what will give the filling its special spicy taste. After the spices have cooked well, cheese is added. Cheese slices can be added if desired. Finally, fresh cilantro and a little lemon juice are added, and the heat is turned off.
Now, the steamed lentil burgers are carefully removed from the molds and cut in half. Green paste and tomato ketchup are spread on one half, the prepared cheese filling is placed on top, and the second half covers it.
A little butter is added to the pan. A little red pepper, pav bhaji masala, and cilantro are added to it. The finished burger is placed on the pan and fried on both sides until a light crispy crust appears.
The spicy and soft lentil burger is ready. It is served hot with green paste or tomato ketchup.
