Captain of Iranian Sitting Volleyball Team Confident in Winning Fifth Consecutive Gold Medal in Nagoya

The captain of the Iranian men's sitting volleyball team, Sadegh Bigdeli, expresses confidence that the Melli team can continue its impressive streak by winning its fifth consecutive gold medal at the Asian Paralympic Games in Nagoya.

Iran has already won the sitting volleyball title in all four previous editions of the Asian Paralympic Games, and Bigdeli stated that the team will go to Nagoya with the determination to maintain this undefeated streak.

In recent months, the national team has been undergoing a period of transformation, during which changes have gradually been made to the roster. Despite these changes, Bigdeli believes that the team is in good shape before the start of the competition.

In an exclusive interview, Bigdeli noted that the training camp before departure was very successful. He added: 'The players arrived in good physical condition, and we used the camp to finalize the last stages of our preparation and confirm the squad for the tournament. Fortunately, everyone is in shape, and there are no injury problems.'

Before traveling to Japan, Iran will hold another final training camp in Tehran. This camp is scheduled for the beginning of October 5 and will allow the coaching staff to work through the final details before the start of the competition.

Bigdeli emphasized that the coaches will use this opportunity to discuss final tactical and technical points with the players. He noted: 'This is our last chance to prepare before traveling to Nagoya, and we hope to arrive at the Games 100 percent ready.'

When asked about Iran's strongest rivals in Nagoya, Bigdeli named Kazakhstan as a team capable of challenging the reigning champions. The Iranian captain also mentioned a joint training camp with Iraq in Iran, noting that their team has significantly improved compared to the past.

However, according to the captain, the main rival is Kazakhstan, which is a bronze medalist at the World Championship and represents a very strong team. Bigdeli stated: 'We are going to the Asian Paralympic Games to win our fifth gold medal. We hope to return home with gold and make the people of Iran proud.'

For Iran, Nagoya means more than just another tournament. The team strives to maintain one of the most impressive achievements in sports for people with disabilities in Asia. Despite the change in squad, increased competition, and the pressure associated with being the defending champion, the task may prove more difficult than in previous years. Nevertheless, Bigdeli's message is clear: Iran is going to Nagoya with one goal—to win the fifth consecutive Asian Paralympic Games title.
