Shoaib Akhtar denies rumors of appointment as Pakistan team's chief selector

Amid speculation about changes in Pakistani cricket, former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar issued a statement regarding his future. Known as the 'Rawalpindi Express,' Akhtar completely rejected rumors of a potential appointment as the chief selector for the Pakistani team. He clearly stated that he has no intention of taking up any position in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Discussions about major changes within the PCB began after Pakistan suffered a crushing 0-3 defeat in a three-match series against England. Shoaib Akhtar's name was among the speculations regarding changes in the coaching staff and team composition. Pakistani media claimed that the former fast bowler could be entrusted with the duties of chief selector.

However, interrupting these reports, Shoaib Akhtar called them mere conjecture. During an interview on a local television channel, he stated that he has no plans to hold any position in the PCB. The program host reminded him of his previous statements, noting that Akhtar's mother advised him to stay away from Pakistani politics and the PCB. To this, the former fast bowler replied that he is still following his mother's advice.

Shoaib Akhtar emphasized: 'There is nothing like that. What they are saying is just speculation. I stick to my statement and follow this advice. There is no truth in the rumors about being appointed chief selector. It is all fake. I am not interested in working for the PCB at all. I just want what is best for Pakistani cricket.'

He also clarified that he had not held any negotiations regarding the role of chief selector with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Akhtar reported that he is currently on a private trip in Houston. In recent years, Pakistani cricket has seen a constant stream of administrative and team changes, including frequent changes in captains, coaches, and selectors, which gave significant weight to these news reports after Shoaib Akhtar's name surfaced.

Akhtar also assured that he is willing to help Pakistani cricket, but this does not necessarily require him to hold a post in the PCB. He believes there are other ways to serve cricket. Akhtar noted: 'I would like to serve Pakistani cricket, but I think I can do it in many other ways.'

Pakistani media had previously reported that Shoaib Akhtar met with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. According to reports, they discussed the state of the Pakistani national team and methods for its improvement. It was also reported that relations between Akhtar and Naqvi had improved in recent months. It was mentioned that Naqvi contacted him after the death of Akhtar's elder brother.

Reasons for excluding Vaibhav Suryavanshi from the team against Japan have been revealed

In the match between India and Japan, held at the International Cricket Stadium in Sano, the Indian team decided to bat after winning the toss. However, this move proved unsuccessful as Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson were quickly dismissed.

The attention of fans was once again focused on 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, but he was again met with disappointment as he did not make the starting lineup. Previously, during the entire T20 series against Afghanistan, Vaibhav also failed to play a single match and remained on the bench. In this one-match confrontation against Japan, the team management decided to leave him out of the squad.

The main reason for this was that the team management once again relied on the experienced opening pair of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. These two players demonstrated impressive performances in the series against Afghanistan, so captain Shreyas Iyer and the team management do not wish to change the successful combination.

Despite this, Vaibhav's fans hope that the young athlete will get a chance in upcoming matches or at the Asian Games. Due to bad weather and continuous rain at the Sano stadium, the historic match was significantly delayed, resulting in the game being shortened to only 5 overs.

Indian captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bat after the toss. During the award ceremony, Iyer expressed deep pride in coming to Japan and becoming part of the promotion of cricket there. He noted that he never thought he would captain in Japan and wanted to give the fans a great match at this historic moment.

Given the format of this short match and the current conditions, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was released from participation. Instead, Arshdeep Singh and Yash Thakur were included. India strengthened its spin bowling by including Akshar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Ravi Bishnoi.
