Actor reveals Farhan Akhtar approached him for the villain role in 'Don 3', but collaboration did not happen

The actor Arjun Das stated that film director Farhan Akhtar contacted him regarding participation in the 'Don 3' project. Although the actor did not disclose details of the role, he confirmed meeting with Farhan and discussing the project, but this collaboration will not proceed.

Discussing the situation with News18, Arjun noted that he was very happy to receive a call from Farhan. He added: 'We met, we talked, but unfortunately, it is not happening now.' Despite the project not materializing, Arjun expressed hope for future collaboration with Farhan, highly valuing him as one of the kindest and most pleasant people he has known.

During the conversation, Arjun also mentioned that he will soon appear in a new Hindi project currently in post-production.

The announcement of 'Don 3' was made officially in 2023, featuring Ranveer Singh, who was set to play an iconic character previously portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. However, due to constant delays, the film remains stuck in the development phase, and production has not yet started.

Farhan Akhtar planned to direct this third installment, and along with Ritesh Sidhwani, they intended to produce it under the aegis of Excel Entertainment. Nevertheless, by December 2025, Ranveer Singh left the project. Several versions of the reasons for his departure have emerged. Initial reports pointed to creative differences, production delays, and script concerns.

However, close sources to Ranveer told India Today that he did not leave voluntarily but was removed from the film following disagreements over his demands. Subsequently, the conflict took on a financial dimension. According to available information, Excel Entertainment claimed that approximately 45 crore rupees had been spent before the project halted in pre-production. These expenses included international location scouting trips, hotel bookings, and organizing a large crew. FWICE later also mentioned this amount in a complaint against the producers.

The producers demanded compensation from Ranveer for the losses incurred due to his exit from the project. Meanwhile, the actor began work on his next film—a zombie thriller titled 'Prylai,' which he is also producing under his own brand, 'Maa Kasam Films.'

Viewers praise Jaydeep Ahlavat's performance in 'Drishyam 3', criticize Akshay Khanna's choice

Ajay Devgn's film 'Drishyam 3: The Conclusion' is generating huge interest among viewers. Critics highly rate the screenplay, and many note Jaydeep Ahlavat's outstanding acting performance. In this crime thriller, the actor played the role of police officer Rajvir Singh Tomar. Meanwhile, Akshay Khanna is also being actively discussed on social media.

Ajay Devgn's film, released on Gandhi Jayanti, is being actively discussed on social networks. Many early reviews emphasize how the final installment connects with the events of the two previous films.

One user on X (Twitter) noted that the first half of Ajay Devgn's 'Drishyam The Conclusion' surpasses the entire film 'Drishyam 3' by Mohanlal. This user stated that Jaydeep Ahlavat is the true hero until the interval, highlighting his amazing acting, anger, demeanor, and screen presence, which, in their opinion, Akshay Khanna could not convey.

Another commentator felt that the climax twist in 'Drishyam 3' is better than in 'Drishyam 1' and '2', and the overall tension and scene direction surpassed the previous parts. They expressed confidence in this after watching.

Yet another X user suggested that Akshay Khanna missed an opportunity to play a magnificent role, which Jaydeep Ahlavat brilliantly embodied. This user wrote that perhaps Akshay Khanna has made many mistakes in his career, but refusing 'Drishyam 3' could be his biggest mistake, noting Jaydeep Ahlavat's outstanding role.

Some users voiced an unpopular opinion, claiming that Jaydeep Ahlavat is a more talented actor than Akshay Khanna. Another user thanked Akshay Khanna for declining to participate in 'Drishyam The Conclusion', as they believe no one could have handled this role better than Jaydeep.

In 'Drishyam 3: The Conclusion', Ajay Devgn once again plays Vijay Salgaonkar. Other actors in the film include Shrira Saran, Ishita Datta, Tabu, Jaydeep Ahlavat, and Mrinal Jadhav. The picture was directed by Abhishek Pathak.

Review of 'Drishyam: Conclusion' by Ajay Devgn: A Comparison with Mohanlal's Original

The film 'Drishyam: Conclusion,' starring Ajay Devgn, was released in theaters on October 2, nearly 11 years after the premiere of the first part of 'Drishyam' in 2015. The original picture was a sensation due to its combination of family emotions and unexpected plot twists. This work was an official remake of the Malayalam film 'Drishyam,' whose screenplay was written by Jeethu Joseph.

The 'Drishyam' series has evolved into a franchise that currently consists of three parts in different languages. However, in the version for the Hindi-speaking audience, the third episode, 'Drishyam: Conclusion,' was written by the project creator Abhishek Pathak himself, rather than being based on the plot of the Malayalam counterpart. Furthermore, Vijay Salgaonkar's story is concluded in this version.

Despite 'Drishyam' being a remake franchise, the Hindi version differs from the Malayalam original. Although the Malayalam 'Drishyam 3' could initially be perceived as the third installment, after watching, it became clear that opting for the new version was the right choice. Critics and audiences agree that 'Drishyam: Conclusion' significantly surpasses the Malayalam 'Drishyam 3' in terms of viewer engagement. Meanwhile, the Malayalam 'Drishyam 3' is considered the weakest film within this franchise.

In the plot of the Malayalam 'Drishyam 3,' Georgekutty dreams of a new life with his family, wishing for his daughter Anju to marry and establish her own home. However, due to negative public opinion arising from the Varun murder case in the city, no one wants to marry Anju. Meanwhile, Varun's parents, Gita and Prabhakar, are planning revenge for their son's death. They devise a carefully planned scheme for Anju to reveal the truth about Varun's murder and her father's secret. Gita and Prabhakar achieve partial success in this mission. But then Georgekutty intervenes to protect his daughter and voluntarily surrenders to the police, thus concluding the story of 'Drishyam 3,' which resembles a family drama more than a suspense thriller.

Ajay Devgn's version uses only about ten percent of the plot from the Malayalam counterpart. 'Drishyam: Conclusion' focuses not only on Vijay Salgaonkar's family but also includes a police investigation and a gripping court trial. Tension builds around Sam's body. Unlike the Hindi version, where the focus is not on Anju's marital life, here attention is paid to Vijay Salgaonkar's cunning and resourcefulness in confronting his adversaries. Thus, the Hindi 'Drishyam 3' retains the core of the franchise, whereas the Malayalam 'Drishyam 3' delves too deeply into family drama, causing disappointment. It can be argued that Ajay Devgn made the right decision not to create a layer-by-layer remake of Mohanlal's film. This deserves praise for director and writer Abhishek Pathak for creating such a strong film.
