The Iranian men's volleyball team defeated Japan with a score of 3:1 (28-26, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24) in the final match of the 2026 Asian Games, which took place in Tehran on Saturday.
Thanks to this victory, Iran won the gold medal for the fourth consecutive year. In the match, Amin Esmailnezhad was the top scorer for Iran, scoring 22 points, while Tatsunori Otsuka scored 22 points for Japan.
Before the final, the Iranian team went through a series of opponents, defeating Kyrgyzstan 3:0, Thailand 3:0, Indonesia 3:2, South Korea 3:2, and Pakistan 3:0.
The gold medal in volleyball became Iran's nineteenth gold award at the 2026 Asian Games. Earlier that day, Pakistan defeated China 3:0, winning the bronze medal.
