After Aajtak Report, Primary School in Darbhanga is Being Moved to Govt School

As a result of a report published by the publication Aajtak, a decision was made to relocate education from the primary school in Kiratpur, Darbhanga. The Bihar State Education Ministry promptly responded to concerns regarding the safety of children studying in the dilapidated building and issued an official order to transfer classes to the Goswa middle school campus.

The publication Aajtak conducted an inspection of the actual situation in government schools across five different districts of Bihar—Kiratpur in Darbhanga, Chapra, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai. During this inspection, it was revealed that children are forced to study under conditions of collapsed roofs, crumbling walls, and broken supports.

The report paid particular attention to the deplorable situation at the Kiratpur primary school. It was noted that the school building was completely dilapidated, and one of the supports had collapsed approximately four or five months ago. Efforts are being made to hold up the roof using benches and bricks, but there is a constant risk of an accident, endangering the safety of innocent children.

Immediately following this, the Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, drew attention to the problem of the dilapidated school in Darbhanga and issued a directive on October 2nd to move it. According to the order released on Friday, student safety is the priority. The District Education Officer of Alinagar issued an official order number 407 on October 2nd regarding the school's relocation. The document clearly stated that the Kiratpur primary school building is in a dangerous condition, posing a threat of injury and accidents among students. Consequently, it was mandated that classes begin at Goswa middle school starting October 5, 2026.

After the order was issued, Ministry of Education staff visited the Kiratpur primary school on Saturday to assess the current condition of the building and the progress of preparations for the transfer. The director of Kiratpur primary school, Rajendra Kumar, expressed satisfaction with the government's decision. He noted that officials came to inspect the school, whereas usually they only offer assurances. He also thanked Aajtak for highlighting the issue.
