In the Indian market, when it comes to electric two-wheelers, the focus is usually on scooters, which dominate company portfolios. However, some manufacturers also offer electric motorcycles, although their range is quite limited.

If a consumer wishes to purchase an electric motorcycle, the choice of options will be small. Among these options, the brand Oben Electric has established itself as the best-seller. In September, Oben Electric sold 1417 motorcycles, marking the highest monthly sales figure for this firm.

The electric two-wheeler startup based in Bangalore explains the sales growth due to the Oben Rorr Evo model. This new product from the company has a claimed range of 180 kilometers. Furthermore, last month, the company achieved an important production milestone by releasing 10 thousand units at its factory.

After Oben Electric, Revolt Intellicorp is in second place, having sold 1027 units. Ultraviolette, specializing in high-performance electric motorcycles, ranks third with sales of 536 units. Additionally, Matter Motor Works sold 69 motorcycles, and Rapti Energy sold 17.

The combined sales of these five companies reached 3066 units, with Oben Electric accounting for 46.2 percent and Revolt for 38 percent. Regarding the overall electric two-wheeler segment, Oben Electric ranks 11th. The leader in this segment is TVS Motor, which sold 53,990 electric scooters in September.

As for the latest Oben Electric model, the Rorr Evo, it is equipped with a 3.4 kWh battery, providing the claimed range of 180 kilometers. This motorcycle is capable of reaching speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour. According to the company, it accelerates from 0 to 40 kilometers per hour in 3 seconds. The charging time to 80 percent is 90 minutes. The cost of charging the 3.4 kWh battery is estimated at approximately 35 rupees (at a price of 8 rupees per unit).

In September 2026, sales of fully electric passenger cars reached 35,048 units, representing a growth of 95.4% compared to last year.

In September of last year, total sales across all companies amounted to 17,932 units, with a monthly increase of 10.3%. In August, sales in this segment stood at 31,769 units. Only three leading brands sold 27,816 cars during this period.

Tata Motors is the leader in the electric vehicle market. The company sold 14,792 cars in September, which is 100.7% more than in September of last year when it sold 7,369 vehicles. The monthly growth was 7%. In August, Tata Motors sold 13,825 electric vehicles. Tata Motors' market share in this segment is 42.2%.

Mahindra is in second place, having sold 7,782 cars. Tata Motors' portfolio currently holds the largest number of electric vehicles. Mahindra's annual growth reached 95.9%; last September, the company sold 3,973 cars. Mahindra's monthly sales increased by 14% compared to August, when it sold 6,827 electric vehicles. The company's market share reached 22.2%. Recently, Mahindra's homegrown vehicles surpassed the 100,000 sales mark.

GSW-MG ranked third, selling 5,242 cars in September. In September 2025, the company sold 4,803 cars, corresponding to an annual growth of 9.1%. VinFast took fourth place, selling 2,964 cars this September, whereas last September the company sold only 6 cars.

Due to a significant change in the situation, Kia Motors secured fifth place, selling 1,263 electric vehicles in September 2026. The brand's sales grew by 111.2% compared to September 2025, when 598 cars were sold. Maruti Suzuki now ranks sixth, having sold 1,104 electric vehicles in September.

Additionally, BYD sold 836 electric vehicles in September, Hyundai sold 792 units, Toyota sold 218 units, and Citroen sold 55 electric vehicles. Data from these premium segment brands was not included in the count.

There is a steady growth in the sales of electric two-wheelers in the Indian market, indicating the increasing popularity of electric motorcycles among the population. Electric scooters are particularly in demand.

According to August data, sales across all companies reached double-digit and triple-digit figures. In August 2026, the total number of electric two-wheelers sold was 187,214 units, compared to 76,118 units in August 2025. This demonstrates a 146 percent year-on-year growth in the segment.

Hero Vida has established itself as the fourth most popular brand. Last month, Vida sold 25,558 electric scooters, whereas in August 2025, the company sold 12,273 electric two-wheelers. Thus, Vida's sales grew by 108 percent year-on-year.

Vida's portfolio includes five models presented under the VX2 and V2 series. Among them is the latest VX2 Go model, which is available with three battery options: 2.2kWh, 3.1kWh, and 3.4kWh. The price of the Vida VX2 Go model with a 2.2kWh battery in Delhi is 79,999 rupees excluding tax.

This scooter has a claimed range of 93 kilometers. Assuming home charging at a rate of 8 rupees per unit, the cost of a full charge will be about 20 rupees. However, the actual mileage will be lower than stated, resulting in an average operating cost of 25 paise per kilometer, or 4 kilometers per rupee.

Regarding the best-selling scooters in India in August, Bajaj Chetak leads with 52,248 units sold. TVS iQube is in second place, having sold 42,882 units. Hero Vida ranked third with 25,558 units sold. Ather Rizta took fourth place with 22,586 units sold. TVS Orbiter entered fifth place with 14,641 units sold. Additionally, 9,772 units of Greaves Magnus and 6,891 units of Ather 450 were sold.
