Independent film 'Lavrezh' explores themes of love and female experience through a collection of stories

The film 'Lavrezh,' which is a collection of four different stories, is ready to present viewers with a unique depiction of love and femininity, raising fundamental questions about the nature of feelings.

Author and director Manoj Krishna created this independent picture, which questions the possibility of defining love within a single concept, relationship, or social boundary. He asks: is love merely attraction, or is it also the courage to understand and accept another person's pain?

At a special premiere of the film, held recently in Mumbai, were present figures from cinema and art such as Shishir Sharma, cinematographer Jayant Deshmukh, Tariq Umar Khan, Rajkumar Kanojia, and National Film Award winner Shubhranshu Das, among whom were writers, critics, and journalists.

Produced under the aegis of Adhan Creation, 'Lavrezh' includes four separate stories. These plots were shot in the outskirts of Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Mathura, reflecting various social strata and life circumstances. Despite the differences in their settings, all the stories are connected by the common theme of human need for connection and love.

The film focuses on the experience of women, exploring the significance of loving the soul beyond physical attraction. It features moments of maternal care, affection, and the sorrow of love wandering in doubt. The stories pose questions about how the face of love changes when suspicion replaces trust, and right replaces intimacy.

'Lavrezh' serves not only as a cinematic work but also as an ideological dialogue about love. In these unfinished stories, the entire life narrative unfolds, as not every romance ends with the desired conclusion, yet the attachment, struggle, and anticipation experienced in such relationships do not become meaningless.

The strength of independent cinema lies precisely in its naturalness, allowing it to portray life with all its complexities, silence, and uncomfortable questions. 'Lavrezh' emphasizes the importance of original stories that give voice to unconscious experiences hidden in everyday life.

The film features four songs, three of which are performed by the renowned singer Madhushree Bhattacharya. The script, narration, and songs were written by Manoj Krishna; the story set in Kolkata also uses a work by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The music was created by Robbie Badle.

The song featured at the end of the film, sung by Madhushree, is called 'Puchti Fir Rahi Ladkiya...' and expresses pain and resistance against violence against women. This song addresses the audience with the question: will patriarchy answer questions about a woman's dignity, safety, and freedom, or will it remain silent? The film leaves the audience with this question.

Manoj Krishna, who transitioned from journalism and writing to directing, presents his first film. 'Lavrezh,' prepared in Circle Creation Studio, is planned to be released by TNV Films. According to Pradhesh Kumar Singh, Director of TNV, the company aims to support independent filmmakers who experiment with original stories and cinema.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters across the country soon. Among the actors participating in the film are Chandan Roy, Nand Kishore Pant, Basant, Ravi, Rajesh Raman, Simran, Divya, and Rajshri.
