Nearly half of India's medical colleges fail to comply with NMC directive on establishing units for persons with disabilities

According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), nearly half of India's medical institutions do not meet the requirements regarding the establishment of special units for students with diagnosed disabilities.

An affidavit submitted by the Commission to the Supreme Court on Tuesday states that out of a total of 798 medical colleges, 355 remain non-compliant. Furthermore, in some institutions, sanitary inspectors, residents, teachers, and senior clerks have been named as the sole contact persons for this purpose.
