Uzbekistan and the USA held a transport and logistics forum in Washington

The first Transport and Logistics Forum between Uzbekistan and the USA took place on September 29 at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington. Participants discussed expanding cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, developing service operations, as well as issues of ensuring business security and managing operational risks.

The event was organized with the participation of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, IT Park Uzbekistan, and the country's embassy in the United States of America. More than 65 representatives from the transport and logistics sector, enterprises, government bodies, and law enforcement agencies took part in the forum.

At the meeting, the opportunities of Uzbekistan for international transport and logistics companies were presented, including existing support measures, workforce potential, and conditions for developing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services. Uzbek companies are already providing services to the US transport and logistics sector in areas such as dispatching, accounting, fleet management, and personnel recruitment.

According to data from IT Park Uzbekistan, more than 550 local companies operate in the US market.

A separate session of the forum was dedicated to the problems faced by companies in the American transport and logistics industry. Participants discussed fraud prevention, business protection, incident response, and interaction between companies and governmental and law enforcement bodies. Discussions focused on exchanging practical experience and finding solutions to reduce operational risks when operating in the US market.

Participants were also introduced to the 'Zero Risk' program, created to support international companies starting or expanding their activities in Uzbekistan. This program provides assistance with office infrastructure and equipment, as well as with recruitment and training specialists, and compensates for part of the salary costs.

The first Uzbekistan-USA Transport and Logistics Forum became a platform for direct interaction between industry representatives from the two countries. The discussions were aimed at the practical aspects of cooperation, including the development of BPO and other service operations in Uzbekistan to support companies operating in the US market.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Discuss Creation of New Transport Corridor in Central Asia

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev announced the expansion of practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in the fields of trade, industrial interaction, and transport connectivity following the meeting in Astana.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin participated. The parties discussed the implementation of a joint program for economic and trade cooperation, which covers projects in areas such as agriculture, tourism, petrochemicals, logistics, energy, and industry.

Particular attention was paid to eliminating obstacles to bilateral trade, increasing the capacity of border crossings, developing transport infrastructure, and promoting specific industrial initiatives.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing in Astana of a trilateral memorandum of understanding on the CASA project between Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates.

This project envisions the creation of an economic route between South and Central Asia through Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, providing access to Indian Ocean ports.

According to Khojaev, integrating this route with Kazakhstan's transport network will form the basis for the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan corridor. The goal of this route is to expand the region's opportunities to access South Asian markets.

Uzbekistan views the planned route not only as railway infrastructure but also as an integrated economic ecosystem. Its development is expected to include digital solutions, terminals, warehouses, industrial sites, and service infrastructure.

Attracting private investment and financing from international financial institutions for the implementation of these projects is also planned. Khojaev noted that projects of this scale can shape a new architecture of regional connectivity, where transport infrastructure supports the growth of trade, industrial cooperation, and access to new markets for the countries of the region.
