Passenger car production in Uzbekistan grew by 9.2% from January to August 2026

According to data from the National Statistical Committee of Uzbekistan, 310,389 passenger cars were produced in Uzbekistan from January to August 2026. This figure demonstrates a growth of 9.2% compared to the 284,352 vehicles produced during the same period in 2025.

The largest production volume was achieved by the Cobalt model, which was manufactured in quantity 107,141 over eight months, an 8.2% increase compared to 99,013 units the previous year. Meanwhile, the production of the Damas model decreased by 4.9%, falling from 57,882 to 55,022 cars. Additionally, 1,530 CHEVROLET DAMAS MOVE cars were produced, whereas this model was not produced in January-August 2025.

Tracker production amounted to 29,781 cars, which is 0.5% less than the 29,930 units in the previous year. The Onix model showed significant growth of 16.1%, increasing from 20,241 to 23,498 cars. Among BYD brands, it demonstrated the highest growth, increasing production by 84.5%—from 12,930 to 23,850 cars.

KIA production grew by 12.9% to 19,374 cars, and Haval increased output by 17.4%, reaching 6,227 units. Chery production decreased by 2.7%, dropping from 5,909 to 5,751 cars. It should be noted that 42 TANK 500 cars were produced in January-August 2025, but this model was not produced in 2026.

In addition to passenger cars, the production of specialized light vehicles increased by 6.3%, reaching 38,215 units compared to 35,936 last year. Truck production grew by 42%, rising from 2,714 to 3,855 cars. Regarding automotive engines, their output reached 160,675 units, which is 6.9% higher than 150,254 units in January-August 2025; however, this figure remained below the volume of 163,570 engines produced during the same period in 2024.

Uzbekistan's retail revenue grew by 18.8% from January to August 2026

According to data from the National Statistical Committee of Uzbekistan, retail revenue in Uzbekistan for January-August 2026 reached 370.6 trillion soms, representing a real growth of 18.8% compared to the same period last year.

Concurrently, wholesale revenue increased by 16.9%, amounting to 447.7 trillion soms, while the turnover of public catering enterprises grew by 26.7%, reaching 208.7 trillion soms.

Small businesses accounted for 296.7 trillion soms, or 80.1% of total retail revenue, demonstrating an increase in their turnover by 18.5%. Large enterprises recorded revenue of 73.8 trillion soms, which is 20% more, with their share rising to 19.9% from 19.7% a year earlier.

The fastest growth in retail trade was noted in the Andijan region (24.4%), followed by the Syrdarya region (23.1%) and the Khorezm region (22.4%). The smallest increase was recorded in the Karakalpakstan Republic (9.6%), Navoi region (14.2%), and Fergana region (15.6%).

In Tashkent, retail revenue increased by 19.2%, and in the Tashkent region by 20.1%.

As of September 1, 2026, there were 92,434 commercial enterprises operating in retail trade. Of these, 428 were large enterprises, and 92,006 were small enterprises and microfirms.

In wholesale trade, large enterprises increased their turnover by 36%, reaching 128.4 trillion soms. Small businesses increased their turnover by 10.6%, receiving 319.3 trillion soms, which accounts for 71.3% of the total wholesale revenue.

The most significant growth in wholesale revenue was observed in Tashkent (20.7%), followed by the Andijan region (15.9%) and the Surkhand region (15.5%). The lowest growth rates were recorded in the Fergana region (6.7%), Namangan region (8.1%), and Tashkent region (10.4%).

A total of 58,261 enterprises operated in wholesale trade, including 427 large enterprises and 57,834 small enterprises and microfirms.

In the public catering sector, small businesses accounted for 78.1% of the turnover, while large enterprises contributed 21.9%. As of September 1, 30,390 enterprises were registered in this sector, of which 148 were large enterprises and 30,242 were small enterprises and microfirms.

It is important to note that the data presented for January-August 2026 are preliminary and were calculated taking into account statistical estimates of the informal and unobserved economy.

Housing sales volume in Uzbekistan increased by 18.4% from January to August

From January to August 2026, 222,500 real estate purchase and sale transactions were registered in Uzbekistan, representing an 18.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

The housing market overview was presented by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR). In August, approximately 25,100 housing transactions were registered; compared to August 2025, this figure remained almost unchanged, increasing by only 0.2%.

Market activity showed fluctuations throughout the year. The number of deals sharply rose to 43,500 in March, but then decreased in April and May. The market recovered, reaching a level of 25,000–26,000 transactions per month in June and July, while the level remained roughly the same in August.

The most significant growth since the beginning of the year was recorded in the regions of Tashkent, Syrdarya, and Andijan. In the capital, 7,400 agreements for buying and selling housing were registered in August, which is 2.2% more than the previous year. Over the first eight months, the number of transactions in Tashkent increased by 27.5%.

In the Syrdarya region, housing sales grew by 25.4% from January to August, and the Andijan region recorded a growth of 23.8%. In August, annual growth in housing market activity was recorded in six out of fourteen regions of Uzbekistan.
