The adoption of electric vehicles in the Indian market is growing. Regarding electric passenger cars, Tata Motors sells the highest number of EVs, while Mahindra & Mahindra sales are also showing rapid growth. The Mahindra company has reached a significant milestone in the electric vehicle segment.
According to Mahindra & Mahindra Executive Chairman, Anand Mahindra, published on the social network X, the sales of the company's fully electric vehicles have exceeded the 100,000 unit mark. He noted this stage by sharing a post on social media.
It should be noted that Mahindra achieved this milestone in just two years. Mahindra's Born Electric models include BE 6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9s. In his post on X, Anand Mahindra wrote that this is a milestone that cannot be ignored because the growth rate and momentum are too great.
The BE 6 model was first introduced in November 2024, and deliveries began on February 14, 2025. On the day preliminary orders for electric SUVs opened, the company received 30,179 orders. The cost of these vehicles at that time was 8,472 crore rupees, including the showroom.
Of the initial orders, 56 percent were for the XEV 9e model. Furthermore, 73 percent of buyers chose the option with the maximum vehicle specifications. This indicates that in the initial phase, buyers of Mahindra electric vehicles were willing to spend more money to get maximum range and features.
Initially, Mahindra only released the BE 6 and XEV 9e models. In November 2025, the company added the XEV 9s to its lineup, and deliveries of this model started in January 2026. By the end of April 2026, sales of these three models reached 65,615 units.
Currently, the XEV 9s is the company's flagship product. In May 2026, 3,502 units of this SUV were sold, and in August, this number grew to 4,508. Monthly sales of the XEV 9e amount to about 2,000 units. Additionally, after the launch of the BE 6 Sportec in August, sales of this model accelerated significantly, reaching 1,696 units in August.
