The state of Acre ended the month of August with a positive balance of 400 registered formal jobs, according to information provided by the General Registry of Employees and Unemployed (Caged), released by the Ministry of Labor and Employment last Tuesday, the 29th.
In total, 4,936 new hires and 4,536 layoffs were recorded in the state during August. With this result, the stock of formal jobs, which represents the total amount of formal employment links, reached 113,179.
This performance in August interrupted the trend of contraction observed in July, when the job balance fell by 71.4% compared to June, a month in which 980 positions were generated. Despite this recovery, the August number remained lower than that recorded in June.
The state started the year 2026 with a deficit of 829 jobs in January. However, starting in February, it began to have more hires than layoffs, maintaining a positive balance in subsequent months.
Sectoral Analysis
Among the economic segments, the services sector stood out in the August data, showing a surplus of 211 positions, indicating that there were more hires than terminations in the analyzed period.
Agriculture also finished the period with a favorable balance, totaling nine positions, resulting from 12 hires and 3 layoffs. In the commerce sector, eight new jobs were opened after registering 649 hires versus 641 layoffs.
Conversely, civil construction recorded a negative balance of 20 positions, with 83 hires and 103 layoffs. Similarly, industry concluded the month with eight fewer positions due to 117 hires and 125 layoffs.
Distribution by Gender and Municipalities
Regarding distribution by gender, men and women showed the same balance of formal jobs in August, with 200 positions for each group. Among men, 2,869 hires and 2,669 layoffs were recorded. For women, there were 2,067 hires and 1,867 layoffs.
The job balance also showed variations among the municipalities of Acre. Bujari achieved the highest positive result, reaching 235 positions, after 357 hires and 122 layoffs. Followed by Sena Madureira, with 94 positions, and Brasiléia, with 49.
Rio Branco concentrated the largest volume of movements in the state, recording 3,260 hires and 3,214 layoffs. Even with the high volume of hiring, the capital ended August with a modest positive balance of only 46 jobs.
National Context
The number of jobs generated in Acre was higher than the one recorded in August 2025, when the entire country opened 154,827 formal jobs. From January to August this year, the accumulated national balance reached 1,134,033 jobs, representing a reduction of 25.2% compared to the same period last year.
It is important to note that Caged data exclusively covers formal employment links and therefore does not reflect the total number of employed people in the national territory. Furthermore, this survey should not be confused with the unemployment rate calculated by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), as this considers other types of occupation.
