In the final match among men in the under 125 kg freestyle category, Zare defeated Chinese Buhierdun with a score of 12:2.
Bronze medals were won by Shamil Sharipov from Bahrain and Edige Kassimbek from Kazakhstan.
On his way to the final, Zare beat Turkmen Ziyamuhammad Saparov with a score of 11:7, Japanese Taiki Yamamoto with a score of 10:0, as well as Kassimbek.
Zare's gold medal is the fourteenth gold award for Iran at these Games. The wrestling competition at the 2026 Asian Games runs from September 30 to October 3 in the Ineh sports center.
