Despite the forest department achieving another success in combating the wave of fear caused by leopards in Muradabad, anxiety among residents does not subside. In the village of Alamgirpur, which is part of the Takurdwara district, another leopard was caught, making it the 22nd captured in the Muradabad area.
Local residents felt relieved after the news of the animal's capture. However, information about the appearance of leopards in other parts of the district has not completely dispelled public concerns.
The issue of leopard movement in Alamgirpur had caused significant fear among local residents for some time. The forest department set up a trap cage to catch the animal, and eventually, the leopard was caught in it. Following this, the forest department team arrived at the site and took the animal into their custody. Residents in the vicinity felt a sense of relief after the leopard was captured.
According to reports, the leopard caught in Muradabad is the 22nd. It should be noted that only 16 leopards have been recorded as detained within the Takurdwara district. The presence of leopards in Muradabad is related not only to fear but also to the fact that they have caused human fatalities. So far, four people have died in the district due to leopard attacks.
Among the deceased are three women and one man. Additionally, dozens of people have been injured as a result of leopard attacks. This is why any information about the appearance of a leopard in rural areas causes panic among residents. Local residents constantly try to remain vigilant due to the presence of leopards near fields and settlements.
While the forest department continues its campaign to catch leopards using cages, reports of their presence continue to emerge in new areas. On the night of a recent date, information was received that a leopard was spotted near Nefa in the Bhagatpur police station area. Video footage of this leopard also appeared, which once again caused panic among surrounding residents. Thus, although catching a leopard in one area brings relief, reports of its appearance in another area again heighten anxiety.
The constant appearance of leopards in Muradabad presents a serious problem for the forest department. Department teams monitor leopard activity in different areas and take necessary measures, including setting up traps, upon receiving information. Although the capture of the 22nd leopard in Alamgirpur brought relief to the residents of that area, reports of leopards appearing in places like Bhagatpur indicate that the danger has not passed. Due to the need to ensure residents' safety, the forest department's campaign may continue.
