Cultural Events Calendar in Zone Mata, Including Events in Juiz de Fora

This Friday, the publication g1 presented a list of leisure options for residents of Juiz de Fora and surrounding areas. Many events are scheduled from October 2 to 8, including concerts, exhibitions, theatrical performances, and much more, so that visitors can enjoy the cultural program.

In Juiz de Fora itself, an exhibition is taking place at the Elio Fadel Gallery, located in the Rectorate building of the UFJF campus. This exhibition, running from Thursday, October 1, to November 27, is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It features a collection of 13 previously unpublished small-format paintings executed in mixed media on canvas, and admission to this exhibition is free.

The group Oriente will also perform in the Savanna club in the city on Saturday, October 3, starting at 11:00 PM. Oriente will participate, along with Cynthia Luz, Ousasamba, WM, Viffon, Pons, Peroni, and Julia Torres. Tickets for this event are available for online purchase.

From Thursday, October 8, to Monday, October 12, the Juiz de Fora Book Fair will be held at the Municipal Market. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will bring together bookstores and exhibitors whose activities aim to promote reading; the program is free.

Another significant event is the lecture by Leandro Carnal in Juiz de Fora, which will take place on Thursday, October 8, at 7:00 PM at the Central Cinema. The topic of his speech is 'Emotional Leadership – Paths to a New Era of Work,' where he will discuss issues of emotional intelligence, leadership, interpersonal relationships, and the challenges of the modern professional world. Tickets for the lecture are sold online.

In Visosa, the event 'Minas under the Moon' will take place on Friday, October 2, at 8:00 PM at Gramado das Quatro Pilastras at the Federal University of Visosa (UFV). The concert includes performances by Carol Almeida and Fernanda Takai, and public entry is free.

Furthermore, from Thursday, October 8, to Monday, October 12, the 54th Rose and Flower Festival will be held in Barbacena. Horticultural exhibitions, landscape design demonstrations, a market for roses, flowers, and fruits, as well as other events such as an agro-industrial zone, a craft fair, the regional Tô na Trilha fair, an art exhibition, the 4th classic car festival, the Uai camping meeting, Cultural Turn, the 2nd gastronomic and cultural festival, and traditional competitions will be organized on the grounds of the Barbacena Exhibition Park. Entry to this festival is also free.

The first weekend of October offers a diverse musical agenda in the Southern Minas region. Between October 2nd and 4th, several local cities will host performances of genres such as sertanejo, pagode, rock, rap, hip hop, and Brazilian popular music, in addition to tributes to international music icons.

Varginha

In Varginha, Gusttavo Lima will perform with his project called 'This is Embaixador Sunset'. This new venture aims to bring admirers from the entire area together for one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Another event in Poços de Caldas (MG) will be dedicated to Rap and Hip Hop, promoted by Som na Sul. This program will feature artists from the local Hip-Hop scene, focusing on Rap, original music, and discotheque culture, which reinforces the presence of urban culture in the city's public spaces.

On Saturday, October 3rd, the COHAB neighborhood court will host performances by Schultz and Dough with DJ Leopac and MaZéli, Semeador and Adeptos MC’s, as well as DJ Queen, with free entry starting at 2 PM.

Additionally, on the same day, the walkway of the Municipal Market in Pouso Alegre will host a 'buteco duel' between Sertanejo and Pagode. The Sesc Stage will also celebrate International Music Day with a morning of fellowship and music, featuring Grupo Família Atração and Samba Brazucas, with free entry starting at 10 AM.

Also in Varginha, there will be the October Rock event, featuring the band Rocksauro, and the Pink Floyd Cover — Interstellar, which will perform the greatest hits of one of the most notable rock bands in history.

São Lourenço

In São Lourenço, Flávio Venturini will perform as part of a tour marking his 50th career anniversary. The show promises to be an evening full of emotion and nostalgia, presenting successes that have marked Minas Gerais and Brazilian music across generations.

The city will also host the 5th Traveler of Words – A Meeting of Coffee, Viola, Literature, and Culture. This initiative is part of a tribute to International Coffee Day, celebrated globally on October 1st, uniting musical and literary elements. The event will take place on Friday, October 2nd, at the Arlete Souza Mendes Municipal Theater, at 7 PM, and will have free admission, featuring the Orquestra Violeiros do Rio Jaguari and Ângelo Adriano Corrêa Pinto, conductor of the Orquestra de Viola Caipira Morena da Fronteira.

Furthermore, there will be VFF – Nostalgic Sessions, a musical journey through great national and international pop rock classics. The Tribute to the Beatles is also confirmed, featuring the band Patronagens Band and the special participation of musician André Loyola.

The traveling project Circuito – Nova Música, Novos Caminhos is coming to Americana with a program focused on Brazilian and international music. This edition will feature the return of the Chicano-Paulistano trio Los Pirata, the Santa Catarina singer Gab Ferreira, and the Swedish-Brazilian band Elephant Run.

In Campinas, the show Duets, presented by João Suplicy and his band, will be inspired by the album from the Biscoito Fino record label. This show will promote duets with prominent figures in national music, exploring various languages and styles, and highlighting the versatility of the singer and composer. The event will take place at the SESI Campinas Amoreiras Theater on October 2nd (Friday), from 8 PM to 9 PM, with free admission, requiring online ticket reservation.

Another notable attraction is the night featuring Special John Mayer and Special Pearl Jam, where two world rock references will share the stage. The show will be on October 3rd (Saturday), starting at 8:30 PM, at Expo Dom Pedro, with tickets starting from R$ 80.

Violonists Nelson Faria and Ulisses Rocha will present the show Violões Brasileiros (Brazilian Guitars), which will include original compositions, instrumental classics, and reinterpretations of works from their careers.

Ana Paula Moreti will perform a show dedicated to Brazilian romantic music, revisiting great songs by Roberto Carlos. Danilo Gentili will host a night of stand-up comedy, characterized by improvisation, interaction with the audience, and special guests.

The show Sonhos Não Envelhecem (Dreams Do Not Age) invites the public to reflect on childhood expectations and life projects. With an emotional narrative, the production explores memories and reunions, taking place on October 2nd (Friday) at 8 PM and October 3rd (Saturday) at 8 PM, at the Lulu Benencase Municipal Theater, with prices between R$ 50 and R$ 100.

In Campinas, the group Os Geraldos presents the play Saudade (Nostalgia), inspired by the tale Pinguinho by Viriato Correia and texts by Rubem Alves. The work follows the change in perception of death in a village. Saudade will be on stage on several dates, starting on October 1st (Thursday) at 8 PM, and will have free admission.

The play Abdias do Nascimento, starring Lincoln Oliveira and Fernando Porto, explores the backstage of a tribute to the writer and activist Abdias do Nascimento. The staging allows the actor and director to share their experiences as Black men in Brazilian society. Brew Festival Campinas brings together craft beer, gastronomy, and live music in a family event. The festival will feature local and national microbreweries, a food court with food trucks and stalls, as well as rock band performances. The structure offers a covered area, kids' space, pet-friendly environment, and accessibility.
