According to the study results, the use of anticonvulsant medications by breastfeeding women does not negatively affect the development of their children. It was established that no differences in the development of verbal speech and adaptive behavior were observed at the age of six between children whose mothers took such drugs and healthy children.
The study noted that discontinuing breastfeeding apparently has a more significant impact on a child's neuropsychological development.
The data from this study were officially published in the journal JAMA Network Open.
