The Heranças do Saber team, from the State School of Comprehensive Education Professor Valdir Monfredinho, located in Pimenta Bueno (RO), concluded its participation in the 18th National Brazilian History Olympiad (ONHB) by winning the Crystal Medal in the national phase. The event took place on August 29 and 30 at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) in Campinas (SP).
The students Júlia Aguiar, Felipe Ferreira, and Emylli Vitóri composed the team, which was guided by teacher Scheila Haese. In addition to the national award, the team secured third place in the state of Rondônia, receiving the Bronze Medal in the state stage.
To enable the students' presence at the final, the school sought various partners. The support from Sicoob Credip was crucial in covering the necessary costs for participation, including travel, food, and accommodation.
Rosângela Mendes, the school director, emphasized that the collaboration arrived at a critical moment for the team. She commented: 'It was incredible because we needed an amount and couldn't get it. Little by little, we were gathering through sponsorships, and when we sent the request to Sicoob Credip and received a positive response, we were very happy.'
The financial aid allowed the students to experience a journey that began in the online phases of the competition. The guiding teacher Scheila Haese emphasized that going to Campinas was a chance to demonstrate the potential of public education, stating that Sicoob Credip is responsible for ensuring both the victory and the visibility achieved.
The school had previously participated in the 17th edition of the ONHB in 2025, registering three teams, two of which advanced to the second phase and one reached the third. In 2026, the Heranças do Saber team returned to the competition, surpassing five online stages and securing a spot among the 353 teams qualified for the grand final in person of the 18th ONHB, held at Unicamp.
Scheila Haese concluded that this achievement reinforces the importance of maintaining faith in education and providing conditions for students to access opportunities that expand their perspectives. She declared: 'Believe in education because it yields results. When we have support and teamwork, it makes all the difference.'
For its part, Sicoob Credip stated that supporting such initiatives means contributing to students being able to develop their talents and experience memorable moments in their academic and personal journeys.
The return to Pimenta Bueno brought with it the experience of representing Rondônia in a national contest, as well as the conviction that dedication, education, team spirit, and opportunities can further boost student talent.
