The Pension Funds Regulation and Development Authority (PFRDA) is preparing a roadmap that will allow organizations under its supervision to participate directly in major infrastructure projects. This goes beyond the existing mechanism of investing through REITs, InVITS, and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), according to Chairman S. Raman told TOI.
Furthermore, the official noted that despite the Government's introduction of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), which guarantees a monthly pension indexed to inflation equivalent to 50% of the average base salary over the last 12 months, most employees covered by the NPS program prefer to opt out of this scheme.
