Unifap is transforming over 30 tons of electronic waste into donations for schools in Amapá. The project collects, restores, and distributes discarded computers and other electronic devices.
The most frequently reused items include computers and monitors, followed by televisions and printers. If the equipment is not in condition to be refurbished, it is sent to specialized recycling companies located outside the state.
Rhyan Carvalho, the project coordinator, clarifies that the initial assessment determines whether the device can still be repaired. After maintenance, parts replacement, and cleaning, the equipment is sent to educational institutions. According to him, this initiative aims to promote digital inclusion in both schools and other organizations.
The center is undergoing renovation
This project aims to extend the useful life of the devices and reduce the improper disposal of electronic waste. However, the Computer Refurbishment Center (CRC) is undergoing a renovation process and needs support to maintain its operations.
The community expresses a desire to expand the utilization of materials and serve a larger number of institutions, but the CRC requires donations to ensure its operation during the renovation period.
