Federal District records new temperature record of 36.4 ºC this Thursday

The Federal District recorded one of the hottest days of the year again this Thursday, with thermometers reaching 36.4 ºC at the Paranoá station at 3 p.m. Meanwhile, the Plano Piloto station registered a temperature of 30.6 ºC at the same time.

Although this temperature is a record for the current year, it does not surpass the historical series, since on October 9, 2020, the Águas Emendadas station had recorded 37.8 °C.

Alert measures for the dry period

The DF will be placed on yellow alert for potential danger from storms and low humidity throughout Friday, from 00:00 to 23:59. According to Inmet, there is a risk associated with strong winds, with a predicted speed between 40 and 60 km/h, in addition to the possibility of hail. The relative humidity is expected to fluctuate between 30% and 20%.

Regarding humidity indices, the lowest value ever recorded in Águas Emendadas was 20%, while at the Gama and Paranoá stations, the minimum index reached was 21%.

Recommendations during the dry period

To cope with the dry period, several preventive actions are recommended. It is advisable to consume plenty of fluids, avoid strenuous physical activities during the driest times, and prevent direct sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day.
