The Pará singer and songwriter Sammliz will return to the stage after a six-year hiatus this Friday (2) at 10 PM at the Casa Apoena venue in Belém. The show will bring together various moments of the singer's artistic journey and present to the public songs from the EP titled “From Here, in 1976, I Waved to You,” which has not yet been released on digital platforms.
This return also signals the resumption of Sammliz's original production, whose musical journey began during her adolescence and achieved national recognition as a vocalist for the Pará band Madame Saatan.
Sammliz expressed her satisfaction with the return, stating that it is a relief to be back at the right time, as nothing brings her more joy and satisfaction than dedicating herself to music and all her creative processes. For her, this event also represents a direct reconnection with her audience, whom she misses greatly, promising always her passionate love and total dedication.
New EP
Part of the repertoire will consist of songs from the new EP “From Here, in 1976, I Waved to You.” This new material incorporates references from genres such as indie, pop, synthpop, darkwave, and rock, in addition to incorporating sonic influences typical of the interior of Pará and music produced in the 1980s and 1990s. The lyrics explore themes such as loneliness, memory, affective relationships, and female empowerment. Among the highlighted tracks are “From Here, in 1976, I Waved to You,” “Neon Morning,” “Coral,” and “Lady/Queen.”
Sammliz stated that she considers herself a free artist, refusing to stagnate, and that this show symbolizes a new path where constant challenge is fundamental. The EP was produced by João Lemos, a member of the band Molho Negro, who has already collaborated with the singer on the album “Mamba,” released in 2016. Gabriel Zander was responsible for co-production, mixing, and mastering.
The title of the new work refers to the work “Psychography,” an intervention carried out in 2010 by the Pará artist Valéria Coelho on a wall of the Solar da Beira, located in Ver-o-Peso. The phrase “From Here, in 1976, I Waved to You” remained in Sammliz's memory, since she was born in the same year mentioned in the work, and she commented that she always found the phrase too significant to forget. The EP's title track already has a music video, filmed in Bosque Rodrigues Alves, in Belém, directed by Thiago Pelaes.
Journey
Sammliz started her career at age 16, being part of the female band Morganas. In 2003, she founded Madame Saatan, a Pará band that performed in the Brazilian independent circuit. In her solo career, she released the album “Mamba” in 2016, as well as other projects such as “Goddess of the Moon (Dangerous Woman),” in partnership with Dona Onete, “Leviathan Lux,” and “Sister.”
In the show scheduled for this Friday, Sammliz will be accompanied by Ruann Magno, playing guitar and synth; Arthur Cunha, responsible for bass and synth; Daniel Pinheiro, on drums; and Juuzou Marques, who will play keyboard and guitar.
