Changes in the operation of public schools and universities in Sergipe due to the 2026 elections

Due to the first round of the 2026 Elections, which will take place next Sunday (4th), some educational institutions in Sergipe will have changes in their operating hours, as part of them will be designated as polling places for the Electoral Justice.

At the São Cristóvão Campus of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), business hours will remain regular on Friday (2nd) and Monday (5th). However, UFS announced that all activities, both academic and administrative, will be suspended on Saturday (3rd) and Sunday (4th), due to the use of the campus by the Electoral Justice.

According to UFS, the Regional Electoral Court of Sergipe (TRE/SE) requested the total isolation of the route extending from the main gate of UFS to the Prof. Gonçalo Rollemberg Leite Forum, also covering the parking areas of the said Forum.

The Federal Institute of Sergipe informed that the assignment of its campuses to the Electoral Justice will happen at different times, depending on the unit. Some campuses will be assigned only on Saturday (3rd) and Sunday (4th), while the Nossa Senhora do Socorro Campus will be assigned starting Friday afternoon (2nd).

State Network

The State Secretariat of Education of Sergipe (SEED) notified that, starting Thursday afternoon (1st), 200 state public schools throughout the state will be available for the electoral justice.

Additionally, the City Hall of Aracaju disclosed that 47 schools from the municipal education network, including Elementary and Early Childhood Education units, will be ceded. These spaces will be used by the Electoral Justice to organize voting starting Friday (2nd), with the return to normal activities scheduled for Monday (5th). In schools not used by the Electoral Justice, classes will proceed normally.

Nossa Senhora do Socorro Municipal Network

The City Hall of Nossa Senhora do Socorro also announced that certain units will be ceded and, consequently, there will be no classes starting Friday (2nd). The return to regular activities is scheduled for Monday (5th). In schools not under the use of the Electoral Justice, classes will continue without interruption.

São Cristóvão Municipal Network

Finally, the City Hall of São Cristóvão informed that some of its units will be ceded and will not have classes starting Friday (2nd). Activities will resume on Monday (5th). As in other cases, in schools not used by the Electoral Justice, classes will take place normally.

Due to the first round of the 2026 elections, public and private schools in the DF will not have classes this Friday

Students from public and private educational institutions, as well as from colleges and universities, will not have classes this Friday, the 2nd, in the Federal District. This suspension is motivated by the first round of the elections.

This determination covers both public and private organizations, with the sole exception of daycare centers. A decree issued by the DF Education Secretariat last month also establishes the suspension of classes on the 23rd, which is the Friday preceding the second round. However, if there is no second round in the DF or nationally, classes will take place normally on that date.

Those responsible for institutions hosting polling stations must maintain normal operations. Staff designated for administration need to be present at the location starting at 7 am to receive the electronic ballot boxes.

First Round

The first round of the elections is scheduled for this Sunday, the 4th. 7,507 electronic ballot boxes will be used, distributed in 614 locations throughout the Federal District. In this electoral poll, voters will vote for positions of district deputy, federal deputy, two senators, governor, and president.
