The Mirin Cooperatives, which are educational projects focused on children and adolescents, received a visit from Fernanda Pedrone, Citizenship and Sustainability Analyst at the Sicoob Cooperative Center, on September 15th and 16th. The purpose of this visit was to closely monitor the students' experiences, as well as to learn about the distinct realities of the involved communities, aiming to identify needs and possible adjustments in the program's methodology application.
The agenda began at the administrative headquarters of Sicoob Credip, where Fernanda Pedrone met with the sector responsible for the Mirin Cooperatives. Subsequently, she visited Coop.linefourteen, a Mirin Cooperative located in the rural area of Cacoal, on Line 14. This location also hosted the pre-COP30 delegation during its passage through the municipality.
On the second day, the visit continued to Rolim de Moura, where there was a stop at Coop.virtus, which operates within a Catholic school. Later, in São Miguel do Guaporé, Fernanda met the cooperative named 'Raízes do Futuro' (Roots of the Future), located at the Commercial Association.
For Fernanda, this journey provided a new opportunity to reconnect with the methodology and understand how it is being implemented in various scenarios. She emphasized that the experience was very valuable, allowing her to understand the difficulties, needs, and adaptations required for the methodology to be effective in the local context.
Throughout the trip, the analyst came into contact with a wide range of environments, including rural and indigenous communities, as well as public and private schools. According to her reports, this variety proves that the methodology has the flexibility to be adjusted to the specificities of each territory.
The Mirin Cooperatives function as pedagogical initiatives that allow young people and children to practically experience the principles and values inherent to cooperativism. Through them, students develop essential skills such as leadership, creativity, organization, and financial education, learning to make collective decisions and share responsibilities.
Fernanda stressed that the Mirin Cooperative program offers a safe environment for participants to test, experiment, and make mistakes, as this is the appropriate time for it. Through the sponsorship offered by Sicoob Credip, these initiatives are supported, contributing to the formation of new generations who are more aware and capable of collaborating in their respective communities.
