Triunfo Film Festival opens registrations for 17th edition with prizes up to R$ 6 thousand

Filmmakers from across the country have the opportunity to submit their films to the 17th edition of the Triunfo Film Festival, which is open for free. The final deadline for registrations is October 15th at 4:59 PM, and the process must be completed online.

The event plans to distribute a total of R$ 48 thousand among the works selected for the competitive screenings, awarding 12 prizes, with individual values that can reach R$ 6 thousand.

The festival is organized by the Government of Pernambuco, through the Secretariat of Culture of Pernambuco (Secult-PE) and the Foundation of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Pernambuco (Fundarpe). The official program will take place from December 6th to 12th in the city of Triunfo, located in the Sertão region of Pernambuco.

Award Structure

Six distinct competitive categories will be considered: National Feature Film; National Short or Medium-length Film; Pernambuco Short or Medium-length Film; National Youth Short or Medium-length Film; Sertões Short or Medium-length Film; and Experimental Film.

In this edition, the festival adopted the theme 'From the cinema of the sertão, the flower of tomorrow is born,' inspired by verses from the poet Rogaciano Leite, celebrating the audiovisual production of the region and promoting reflections on possible cinematic futures.

Prize Details

The R$ 48 thousand will be distributed between the Official Jury and the Popular Jury, with values ranging from R$ 2 thousand to R$ 6 thousand. Specifically, the National Feature Film will receive R$ 6 thousand; National Short or Medium-length Film, R$ 4 thousand; Pernambuco Short or Medium-length Film, R$ 4 thousand; National Youth Short or Medium-length Film, R$ 4 thousand; Sertões Short or Medium-length Film, R$ 4 thousand; and Experimental Film, R$ 2 thousand.

Additionally, the event awards the Caretas Trophy, dedicated to technical categories, and the Fernando Spencer Trophy, reserved for the winner of the Best Character category.

How to Participate

Interested parties must access the Cultural Map of Pernambuco, fill out the appropriate form, and attach all documentation requested in the public notice. The submission deadline is October 15th at 4:59 PM, following Brasília time. Candidates are required to provide a link for full viewing of the work and, if applicable, the corresponding access password.

Participation Requirements

Producers can register completed works produced between 2024 and 2026, respecting the closing deadline. The public notice is open to various genres and languages, including fiction, documentary, animation, music video, and other audiovisual formats.

Participation is permitted for individuals, Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs), legal entities, as well as groups or collectives without a CNPJ, provided they comply with all rules stipulated in the public notice. A single proponent may submit multiple works, but must fill out a separate form for each film.

For the Sertões Short or Medium-length Film category, works produced in municipalities of the Northeastern Semi-Arid Sertão or those directed by individuals residing in this area for at least 24 months are accepted. The Experimental Film modality welcomes low or very low-budget original productions, covering works by collectives, schools, and other initiatives, including those using cell phones and other production resources.

Among the evaluation criteria defined in the public notice, the prominence and creative contribution of historically underrepresented groups stand out. A Popular Jury, composed of representatives from Triunfo, will also collaborate in selecting the awarded films, potentially including students, teachers, and audiovisual professionals from the municipality.
