The Rio de Janeiro State Road Department (DER-RJ) has resumed conservation work on several state highways in the state that had been halted since the previous year. According to the agency, some of these works had been interrupted for over two years.
The reactivation of services covered a total of 13 roads located in different regions of the state. Among the benefited routes is RJ-198, located in Itaperuna, in the Northwest Fluminense area. The planned activities include pavement repairs, updating both horizontal and vertical signage, repainting driving lanes, and replacing signs.
In addition to resuming existing services, DER-RJ has initiated a new bidding process aimed at contracting the maintenance of state highways. There is an expectation that this process will be finalized this year, which will allow for the continuation or expansion of services to the 112 roads under the department's responsibility.
In the Northwest Fluminense region, other roads that received interventions included RJ-200, which connects Miracema to the border with Minas Gerais; RJ-116, between Miracema and Laje do Muriaé; RJ-186, connecting Santo Antônio de Pádua to São José de Ubá; and RJ-230, which runs through the section from Bom Jesus do Itabapoana to Santo Eduardo.
Other roads included in this maintenance phase are RJ-155, located in Rio Claro; RJ-102, in Cabo Frio; RJ-130, in Nova Friburgo; RJ-125, in the Avelar segment, in Paty do Alferes; RJ-142, in Casimiro de Abreu; RJ-158, running from São Fidélis to Campos dos Goytacazes; RJ-093, in Paracambi; and RJ-162, covering Casimiro de Abreu and Rio das Ostras.
The new maintenance agreement should encompass general pavement repairs, vegetation mowing, conservation of horizontal and vertical signage, as well as cleaning drainage systems and other conservation procedures.
Part of the actions will be financed through resources from the Economic Domain Intervention Contribution (CIDE). DER-RJ clarified that these funds were released by the State Government in conjunction with the Ministry of Transport, and they are expected to be made available in the coming weeks.
