Raspberry Pi announces new price increase due to high memory costs

Raspberry Pi has announced a new price adjustment, which is not a repetition or a previously seen event. This increase was motivated by the rising costs related to memory.

This time, the models affected by the price change are the versions equipped with 2 GB of RAM from the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 lines. The reason only these products were affected is that they were the only models of these two lines that had not yet been readjusted in 2026.

The increment applied in all cases is US$ 12.50. Consequently, the 2 GB Raspberry Pi 4 now costs US$ 67.50, while the 2 GB version of the Raspberry Pi 5 reaches US$ 77.50. These adjustments represent significant increases, corresponding to 19.2% for the Raspberry Pi 4 and 22.7% for the Raspberry Pi 5.

The main cause of this decision, according to Raspberry Pi itself, is the current memory sector crisis, which has considerably raised expenses for RAM chips and similar components. Eben Upton, CEO of Raspberry Pi, stated: 'Most of you should already know that the cost of memory has increased considerably in the last two years and continues to rise; like other companies, we have had to increase the prices of many of our products to keep up with production costs.'

Raspberry Pi began announcing its fourth adjustment this October, since December 2025, when the price escalation began. However, this latest one can be seen as a continuation of the adjustments announced in April 2026, since it only covers items that were not included at that time.

When specifically analyzing the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 lines, the official values established made it clear that only two boards had not yet received an adjustment: the 1 GB RAM versions of both the Raspberry Pi 4 and the Raspberry Pi 5.
